When I was really young I was very interested in other cultures. One day I was driving with my mom and saw a big sign that said "Exotic Dancers" and had all these pictures of beautiful women wearing weird costumes. I got really excited and wanted to go because I thought they were performing traditional foreign dances in exotic-looking clothing. I was crushed when she told me what was really going on - my idea sounded so much more interesting!

I used to believe…

k, so you could get to my house 2 ways. you could go by the Clark gas station or go by the Shell. Well, i thoughyt the gas stations swiched places depending on the day. I never relized, for a long time, that i could go home 2 ways.

I used to have swimming lessons at my local pool, and have a shower aferwards. The showers there had the little curtains covering them, and I was convinced that when I wasnt watching, someone would open the curtain and peek.
I believed it with changing rooms in shops too, but they normaly have mirros in so it wasnt so bad :P

When i was about 5 years old i believed that the chlorr people puttin pools was medicine so 1 day i asked my mum" mummy, when are u going 2 put medicine and a plaster on the pool??" Then my parents laughed their head off before they told me that they use chlorr to keep the pool clean!!

When I was 2 or 3 my mom went into KFC and I didn't want to go. So my mom said, "The big man will get you." I pointed at the KFC man on the wall (THE MAN ON THE KFC LOGO) and said, "Is the big man him?" My mom said yes and I ran in!!!!

I used to believe that at the first window that some fast food restaurants use for payment that they were actually handing you the money to pay for the food (since I always saw the worker handing my Mom change). I even remember thinking, "That can't be too good for business..." or something along those lines.

My daughter loved to check the mail when she was little. I noticed that she always raised the flag to open the mailbox and lowered it after she closed it back. She believed the door was locked when the flag was down. I couldn't tell her the truth, it was too cute to watch! She did this until she was 7, then I noticed one day she stopped doing it. I guess she finally figured it out on her own.

I once believd that whilst swimming, you could regenerate the air in your own mouth, i.e whilst breathing out (head underwater), if I opened my mouth, I could catch my own air bubble and continue without havng to resurface. What added credibility to this was watching Tarzan (Johnny Weissmeller) doing etended underwater scenes. What took away this credibility was that I tried it and nearly drowned

When I was young and probably before I could really tell time, I used to believe that the big signs outside of gas stations with the price on them were clocks and I always thought that the gas price was the time.

When I was a kid, I never saw an ice cream truck. We lived in several different towns and in decent neighborhoods, ... I thought it was very sad and slightly odd ( even a bit suspicious) that they had been driven out of existance, apparently by the 7-11 stores we went to instead. I wanted to petition for their return, but didn't know who to take it to. I saw my first one when I was in my 30's and it was so funny, just like I imagined, I almost ran out too, waving money and yelling.

I used to believe that my neighbour across the street was a kidnapper and had all of my friends convinced of this also. He drove a massive Kenworth truck and I believed he stole children and kept them in the trailer end as prisoners. It got to the point where we'd hide under the coffee table or behind curtains when he arrived home from work every night. From then onwards I became paranoid about big trucks and shut my eyes when they went past at night with all the lights running down the side of the trailer. When my dad (who was friends with this man) found out what was going on he told me off for making up such rediculous stories. I honestly to this day don't remember making this up at all. The story just kind of appeared from no where.

There was a turning just off our high street where there was (clearly now) a lot of development work going on. I used to believe that this was the end of the world and that if I strayed down this road I would fall off into I don't know what. I insisted my mum held my hand all the way past and became somewhat hysterical if she refused!

when I was about 5-6 my father worked a part time job at a large department store weeknights. My mom would have to pick him up when the store closed, my brother and I in tow. He worked in the cash office.. the last people to leave the store... anyway, I was always afraid that he would get locked in the store and have to sleep on the beds in the linens section... plywood boxes with sheets on them! When the lights went out and he was still in there I would get hysterical!

A friend of mine used to believe that when she went swimming her period would stop automatically (for the water around her didn't turn red), so she would go swimming daily without a pad or tampon or anything while she was having her period! Gross! (It made me remember how when you play freeze tag to unfreeze someone you have to swim between their legs). I made a mental memo never to go to the pool with her again!!!

i used to think that marlins (the kind of fish) lived in pools! i didn't want to go into a pool once because i thought a marlin would come and spear me with his long spear nose! ouch! lol

I used to think that the big water towers were following us in the car when we drove past them. I would lean forward in my seat to "make the car go faster".

When I was 6 or 7 years old, I heard a newcaster talking about things being bought and sold "on the black market" and I thought that meant it was an actual open-air flea market type place that had nothing but black painted tables, chairs, tents, booths and buildings. All the people buying and selling stuff in there had to wear all black clothes too. No wonder my parents looked at me and laughed when I said, "What's wrong with selling stuff in a place where everything has to be black?"

when i was younger i used to go swimming in my Aunt's pool. right under the diving board was a light. I always thought that at night a shark would come out and eat anyone or thing that was in the water. i belived this until i was 12 and i still dont swim at night in a pool

I used to believe the ONLY water people had for a city was in the tower and soon as they drank it all gone, then a big tank or something would have to go fill the tower again or the people would NEVER get water again.
