I used to think when i was really, really young that the liquor store was a candy store, because it's name sounds like licorice.
When I was little, my uncle was driving us home from a day at the beach. My brother and sister and I saw one of those tall water towers in the distance and asked my uncle what it was. He said, and I kid you not, that it was skunk. For years after that, every time we saw a water tower we would scream SKUNK at the top of our lungs. It wasn't until we grew up that Mom finally asked us why we yelled skunk everytime we saw a water tower and she's still not sure she believes us.
When I was about 3 years old, my mom always took me shopping. But whenever I spotted something I wanted, I wanted it. So badly. And when my mom told me that I couldnt have it, I would cry. So loudly.
So instead, she came up with a routine. Whenever I wanted something, she would say, "Let's go ask the manager (I thought everyone who had a job was a manager) if they will let you buy that, then." And so we would go to the cashier and my mom would say, "Excuse me, my daughter would like permission to buy this." And she would wink to the cashier. Then the cashier would reply, "Oh...I'm afraid we cannot sell that to you today." And I would say, "Oh. Okay." And obey her because to me then, the manager was like God. =P
In some restaurants, the waiter takes your order, puts his piece of paper in a little lift and it goes up or down to the kitchen where they cook it and then put it in the same lift for the waiter to take out and bring to you. I used to think the lift read what was on that piece of paper and, as if by magic, turned it into the food you had ordered.

I used to believe that the orange balls I saw on the telephone wires were "radar balls"... that is what my dad told me they were. That way the police would always know who was speeding down the road!

I used to seriously believe that if you stepped on a crack, while walking on the sidewalk, you would brake your mothers back.
When I was a kid my dad used to tell me that there were two toys-r-us's. One was a real toys-r-us and the other was a fullscale cardboard cut-out model of the real toys-r-us, and me and my brother used to always ask "dad, dad, is that the real toys-r-us?" so he always got away without buying us toys.

When I was three and went to Sea World for the first time, I wasn't going to see Baby Shamu. I was going to see "Baby Shampoo!"
Well, when I was young I wanted to be a farmer because of my love for animals. Everytime my mom told me that we were going to the pharmacy I got really excited because I thought we were going to the farm, and whenever we got out of the car and went into a store instead I would ask my mom, "I thought we were going to the pharmacy?" in which she would reply "This is it" but I never really grasped that for a while.
I used to belive that the fountains at the mall were somehow connected to the urinals in the men's washroom, so from then until my Dad finally explained to me what the fountain was all about, I was terrified of going close to fountains.
i used to believe when i was little that the large water towers that are way up in the sky, the ones you drive by on interstates and in small towns, were where you kept all the mean fish. I thought thats where they kept the sharks and the evil fish who liked the bite.
