I used to beleive that late at night after I went to sleep that the houses in my neighborhood would come to life and play Soccer.
WHEN I WAS LITTLE MY MOM USED TO TELL ME THAT IF I STEPPED INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE HOTTUB AT OUR LOCAL AQUATIC CENTER WHERE THE BUBBLES CAME OUT I WOULD BE SUCKED DOWN INTO THE GROUND AND I WOULD DIE. MY MOTHER WAS SO CRUEL!!! LOL :P
My mother was under the belief for ages that if you went into Arcades by the sea or whatever, there were big men in there who would inject you with heroin, and you would become an addict. What a nice thing to be told by your mother...
When I was little my mom told me that the balls on electical lines were put there so that when there was a big flood the electrical lines would float. I believed this since the only time I had seen them was on electrical lines that were over a bridge.
Whenever my friend and her sister were little and would have to walk home alone from school they would drag one leg behind them and try to bite their ear so that any potential kidnappers would think they were retarded and pass them by.
Someone told me that a girl going through puberty had a period in the pool. I did not really want to go in the pool again after he said that.
My Grandma's sister lived in a granny flat at the back of my Grandma's house. There was an above-ground pool behind the flat that I used to swim in.
When I was little, my Grandma's sister would watch from her front door and everytime I was about to jump in the ppol, she'd scream out, "LOOK OUT!! There's a shark in there with it's mouth open and you're gonna jump straight into it's mouth!!"
Because she used to do this, I used to think there were sharks living in the shadowy side of the pool (Eventhough I couldn't see them). I used to make my Pop come down and sit beside to pool all day just to make sure the sharks wouldn't eat me... haha
The concept of moving was very limited to me when I was about 5 or so. I didnt realize people lived in apartments or kids moved away from home or new houses were built! So when we talked about moving to a new house, I thought that meant everyone in the world had to move, like the giant shifting of a long line, so all the houses were still occupied only by different people. It frightened me to think that we were so instumental in the world's housing crisis. I felt guilty and didnt want to be the one to tell the world that everyone had to move...again.
We lived on a dead-end street. At the end of the block, there was a sewer drain that ran the entire width of the street. I thought that underneath that part of our street was the actual location of Hell.
Up until about the age of 9 I thought that the directional would tell you where to go if you got lost.

when I was little I thought that if you swam over the grate of a swimming pool in the deep end you would get sucked down under water and drown.
When we were very young, my sister and I wrote letters to President Reagan. My sister asked him to "change the rules" so that we would be allowed to run while we were playing around the swimming pool.
There used to be little round signs with silhouttes of a little girl and a little boy that said WANTED ALIVE! I couldn't figure out who they were or why they were wanted.

I use to be afraid of escalators in the mall, It wasnt the riding part that scared me , it was at the end and I thought it would suck me in.
I used to believe that the lollipop lady gave out free lollipops (didn't we all?!) and every morning I'd walk straight up to her, put on my sweetest smile and try to look cute and innocent. As you've probably guessed, I was very offended when she gave me no lollipop.Huff!! (',')
My friends mum used to tell him that when the ice cream van had the music playing it meant he had run out of ice cream!
I used to believe…

She was 17 at the time
Everytime I was in the car with my dad when I was little, and we would drive over rumble strips on the highway, he would tell us that there were frogs under the car. I'm 23 and still think of that everytime I go over them.

I used to believe the balls on the wires (for planes to see) were from the circus and that they had accidently left them(sorta like a tightrope)
