I used to think that those little things at the bottom of public pools that are water filters (I think) would suck our your intestines if you got too close, so I spent the majority of my childhood being really really frightened of public pools.
when i was little my mother took me to the sydney aqarium, it was all good untill we got to the bit where you go under water and look at all the fish around you, i started screaming and holding onto the edges of the door blocking off all the other people because i thought we actually had to go swimming and get wet.

My friend was sooo scared of sharks ever since she was little. When I was like 11 I had my birthday party at an indoor pool. It was really warm and a part of it was really deep. Somehow she got the idea that there were sharks in the water, and would only enter the water if she had a kickboard!!
You know how in some roads there are two yellow stripes in the middle? Once I saw my imaginary friend (FrogBoy) driving a remote control car down those lines. So up until I was eight I believed that all little boys who owned remote controlled cars would just walk between those yellow lines, driving their remote control cars to their hearts content. No girls did this because toy cars are a boy thing. 'Little Sally-Sue' dolls, however, well, they're a different story.
My parents were part of this club, and one night they took my sister and I to a get together. There was a pool table there and I honestly thought it was a little mini pool with water.

When I was 5 years old I used to think that the people at the A and P grocery store gave us money to do our shopping. It used to make me so happy because we didn't have a lot of money and I knew that getting our groceries paid for would mean less stress for my mom. At the time I did not understand the concept of cashing a check, which was what was really happening.

Well this is not mine! But one of my friends told her son that if the bell rings on the ice-cream van then it meant that he had no ice-cream! Can you imagine what he thought when he seen all the other kids getting some. He must be scared for life!!!
For a very very long time I believed that somewhere there was a small man whose job was to catch the bowling ball, restack all of the bowling pins in that triangle once you knocked them down, and then throw the ball back to you on the ramp.
I used to believe the ice cream van was a birdy. Because my mum never wanted me to know the truth...
When I was about four, I was always being babysat by my mother's friends. One of them lived right on a street. I would never, ever looked up the street because I was convinced that Godzilla and dinosaurs would be fighting up there. -_-;;

I used to believe that the gate house to a country estate near our home was Red Riding hood's cottage and the trees in the grounds were the wood where the big bad wolf would get me. One day my Mum took me to visit a friend of hers who was renting the cottage. I was really disappointed to find out it wasn't true.
When I was a kid we had a neighbor called Old Man Sam, and if you stepped on his lawn he would chase you away because it was private property. So I thought Private Property was some kind of special designation he had gotten from the city.

I used to believe that the people who worked at the mall lived there. I thought that they slept on the display beds, wore the clothes that were being sold, and ate at the food court. I wanted to work and live there too. I was disappointed when I found out the truth.
