WhenIwould ask to go to the laundry mat with my Mother, she toldme I would be bored. It frightened me because I thought it meant being nailed to a board so every time she went I would cry and beg her not to go.

When I was 5 there was a shooting at a Mcdonalds in California. I heard it on TV. I didn't realize someone actually shoots the gun and I thought the guns came out of the lights in the ceiling at Mcdonalds and killed people. I cried everytime my mom wanted to take me there.
I Used to think that when you got into a swimming pool if there was a guy there you could get pregnant. I remember my parents had a pool party for my brothers 15th birthday and one of his friends got in the pool. I jumped out and went crying to my mom and told her that he just got me pregnant.
I grew up in Winnipeg near Assiniboine Park. This park contains a fancy building, called the Pavilion, with a clocktower with a flag on top, if I remember correctly. At any rate, one time my daycare centre went on a field trip to the park. When we saw the Pavilion, one of the other kids convinced me that the Queen lived there.

When I was about 9 I was at the house of a family friend and they had just had renovations and I decided to go the toilet in the extension. The first time i went and I flushed it, it made a funny noise so after that, whenever I ever went to the toilet there I never flushed the toilet as I thort the renovations werent finished and all my business would just land in their pool. I'm pretty sure they knew it was me that wasnt flushing!
A friend of mine tells a great story about how when she was little her dad had told her that when the Ice cream van came round and rang his bell, that it meant that he had run out of ice cream. She belived this for quite a while apparently.

When I was 5 my 7-year-old next door neighbor told me the UPS man stole kids and we should all hide so he wouldn't take us. For YEARS I hid from UPS trucks!
When i was little my dad always told me there was polar bears in the deep end of the pool and if i swam in the deep end they would come up and get me! I believed him until i was finally old enough to hold my breath and go under water. Then i noticed he was lying and i started to jump off the diving board and play Marco Polo with all the older cool kids.
After being fixated with Thomas the Tank Engine and how the streets lights turned on I finally came to a logical conclusion. I believed that the fat controller lives inside the lamp post on a little chair and turned on the lights when it go dark.
Driving down the road one day, I pointed up at a giant crane at a construction site and asked my mom what it was for.
She must have thought I was looking at something else, because she mentioned something about it helping her lease the car.
For years I thought that cranes would go and pick cars out for you for a lease...

i used to think that when you put cans into the recycling machine to get paid... i thought the quarters that came out were made out of the cans by the machine.
I used to believe that Santa Clause lived in the drain at the bottom of the swimming pool in the deep end and that the only was to talk to him was by jumping off he diving board, swimming down and talking to the drain. Since i was only 5 or so I could go all the way to the bottom and would get mad b/c I could'nt tell santa what I wanted for Christmas.!

I knew it was wrong to talk to strangers so I would yell at my mom and get worried when she chatted with people in the grocery store line.
When I was little and my parents took me to the movie theater, I used to think that they had numerous microwaves behind the counter to make the popcorn as you ordered it!
Before i knew how to read, my sister told me that the grocery store "grand union" was pronounced "grand onion" because she was not actually that good at reading. i figured that they must be well-known for their onions...
i used to think that an ambulance waz a truck with a bed in it. And u'd sleep in dere if dere waz a monster under the bed.
