When I was little we lived out in the country around a lot of tall towers with red flashing lights on them. One time we were driving by one and I saw a little building next to one. I asked my dad what the tower was for and he said "It's a microwave tower", so I thought those little buildings were really HUGE microwaves.

Back in the 70s there was a retail stor at every mall called Korvette's. Imagine my disappointment to find out that they sold clothes and not cars! :(

My mum once told me Jack from the poem Jack and Jill was a naughty boy because in my nursery rhyme book the picture showed them holding hands. I gasped at everyone i saw holding hands after that, for about a year!

When me and my sister were little my mom told us that if we went to the deep end of the pool when we were swimming that an invisble monster would suck us under.I didn't really pay attention to her but my never wated to go in the deep end

My sister and I used to dig up the yard because we would think that if we dig deep enough, we will get to Toys 'R' Us and get all the free toys we want.

When I was little, my dad used to always take me to this McDonald's that was right next to a Sears. The Sears sign must have been really big or something because I would always refer to McDonald's as Sears.

The third day after I started my period (I was 11), my mom's friend invited me and her to go with her and her daughters to a water park. I hadn't told my mom at the time that I was on my period (I used to be really shy about it) so I didn't have any access to a tampon. A friend of mine had told me once when we were like 8 or 9 that when you had your period and you were in a pool, if anyone saw the blood, they would drain all the water out of the pool and scrub it down to disinefect it. So I was terrified the entire time at the water park that this would happen to me. Just to add to the silliness of this, I was dumb enough to sit on a white towel, then hand it to my mom afterwards when I went to swim. Needless to say, I had bled on it and she was afraid I'd started and didn't know I had. I was a weird kid.

when i was younger my mum used to tell us that the ice-cream van was a monster so when ever it came we used to run in side and hide

The ice cream van never stopped for long enough for you to get your shoes on and get your money and it only stopped outside so I used to run out in bare feet. I saw some other kids do this too and I actually thought, when I was 5, that this was some sort of ritual to the ice cream man so he'd give us free ice-cream! Never did work though, lol.

When I was little I always heard people use the phrase "car pool", so when I saw a car with a cab on the back, I thought you were supposed to fill it with water and invite people in.

When i was about 3 years old i took swimming lessons in this indoor swimming pool. i remember when we were being taught how to float on our backs (we were little!!) our teacher would tell us to look up at the ceiling and imagine a big sandwich there. i got it into my head that we were supposed to look for the giant peanut butter sandwich that was stuck to the roof so it didn't fall on us. i could never see it, and i thought everyone else knew where it was but i didn't ask because i didn't want to look stupid.

As a 7 year old, out shopping with my parents, my two elder brothers told me about this place they called children's world. they told me that it was a place where they punished children like myself , locking them in for life where they could be kept away from everybody, especially other children. As you will have guessed, but as i didn't realise at the time and could only see the place from outside, children's world was actually a kids' entertainment store and there were giant
slides on display that could be used.my brothers said this was a trick so that i could be locked in as soon as i got in, and that like it or not, mum was going in there to look next and i had to go in with her, and i wasn't coming out.

when i was 4,i believed that escalators did'nt use a belt. There where people under build more and more steps((im 10 so you might as well delete this))

Until I turned about 10, I thought "carpool" was another word for El Caminos -- the cars that look like they're half pickup truck. I always wondered why I had never seen one put to proper use, filled with water and people in swimsuits. To this day, I want to try that version of carpooling!

When I was in first grade, I believed that each family had their own unique zip code, which was used as a means of identification. So when we learned how address envelopes in school one day, I was shocked and angry to discover that the teacher had put MY zip code up on the board for everyone else to use! I immediately raised my hand and stated, 'But that's MY zip code! You can't use it!' My teacher had to explain to me that everyone within the surrounding area got to use the same zip code. Hrmph. I still thought I should be the only one allowed to use it.

On cartoons whenever someone finally stopped struggling and went underwater and drowned, bubbles appeared at the surface where they dissapeared.
Whenever I breathed out underwater while swimming I got uncomfortable and scared becuase I thought the lifeguard was gonna think I drowned and try to come save me, then yell at me for creating a false alarm.
