When me and my cousins were in between the ages of 4 to 8, my cousins lived in the country and I in the city. When they would come and visit, the ice cream truck would come by and I would ask mom for money and come back with ice cream. My cousins were floored. Their mom told them that it was the church bus coming to round up all the kids and take them to church, so that way she did not have to give them any money. They thought that I was crazy for going out there!! I still tease them about it to this day.

I remember whn my dad told me that if I said "water turn on" the water would turn on for me. Now at the time I didnt know that there were foot petals to turn on the water, so one day when I decided to turn on the water without my dad there, it didnt turn on. I said, "turn on water!" But it never came on. I stood there for 10 minutes until my father's co worker saw me staring at the fountain and told my dad. He laughed so hard! I'm still a bit irritated to this day about it.

I used to believe that all houses with For Sale signs were intended for Sali, and thought Sali must be quite important to have a monopoly on all houses.
Then again, I am Welsh, and couldnt speak much English at the time!

My mother would put quaters into the shopping carts at Superstore. For a period of a couple of years, the Canadian Mint put out a new batch of coins each month with a special design on them. You were supposed to collect them and my mom did. She never let me put any of the coins with special designs into the shopping cart slots because she belived that you didn't get the same quater back. I once spent an afternoon convincing her that the quater you put in was the quater you got back. She still doesn't belive me.

I used to believe that water towers were a giant aquarium inside. All the fish that the pet stores sold came from the water tower and whan it got too crowded inside they would dump some of them into to oceans and lakes etc.

I used to think that people who worked in supermarkets lived upstairs from the shop. I thought that they were really lucky because if they ever forgot to buy something, like a tin of beans, they could just pop downstairs and get it.

I used to believe there was quicksand at the top of my street. I saw a movie once where a man was "swallowed" by quicksand and the hat he had been wearing was left on top. The quicksand in the movie looked like mud, so when I saw a huge muddy area up the street, I thought for sure it was quicksand!

When i was little i used t believe that when you would sell you're house to some one you had to move in to their house and they had to move into yours.

My Mother used to tell me that the water towers on the side of the highway were huge public swimming pools. I also used to beg her to take me there. I dreamed it was the greatest place to swim on Earth! She always told me she would take me there if I was a very good girl. Too bad I never made it...Love ya' Mom!

My Mother used to play games (more for her benefit) with me when I was young. She used to tell me that store mannequins were actually real, live people who were paid to stand still all day and model clothing. She used to tell me to go and talk to them while she shopped because they get lonely. So, here I was, 3 or 4 years old, talking to mannequins all the time. When I asked her why they never talked back, she simply replied, "Well, they will get fired, they're not allowed to." Love ya' Mom!

i believed for the longest time that after about 8 pm all the roads were closed (just like stores) and everyone had to be at home with their families and going to bed...

When I was little, one of my mamma's friends had a swimming pool. Before getting in, she always told us that they had a chemical in the pool that made the water turn red if you peed in it. I believed her and it made me very paranoid. I guess it was just her way of making sure we didn't pee in the pool.

I was told that if you urinated in the public swimming pool that there was a special chemical added to the pool water that would go red around you, so that everyone would know.

I used to believe that fire trucks carried all the water they used to put out fires in the back of their trucks, so if they ran out of water, another fire truck would have to come.

As embarrassing as it is (i'm 19), I only found out yesterday that they connected their trucks to a water supply underground.

I used to believe that the "black market" was a physical flea market somewhere in Central America where you could buy stolen paintings and Russian tanks.
