As a kid I assumed that only really pretty (like movie star or model pretty) people could actually get a boyfriend/girlfriend/lover etc. For some reason it didn't occur to me that if that was the case the world would be populated only by really pretty people since only they would have reproduce

When I was younger, I used to think a "slut" was a really beautiful girl. I brought my favorite Barbie doll to school for show and tell and when my teacher asked me why she was my favorite doll I replied, "because she's a slut."

I used to believe that you chose what ethnicity you wanted to be when you grew up. I'm white, and when I was little I wanted to grow up to be Asian. I was really disappointed when I found out I'd always be a white girl!

I believed that when you lied, a silver screwdriver would shoot out of Heaven and unscrew your bellybutton and your BUTT would FALL OFF, and youd be SHOWN to be a liar!

How did I come up with that one? I didnt MOM told me that, and I believed her. Asked when I was grown up why she told me that, and she said, Well, Suzi, whenever you were trying to lie to me, the first thing you did was cover your stomach. Yup, my Mom!

I used to believe that when you got married (a woman), you had to change your FIRST name. I spent hours agonizing over that and trying to come up with a new first name I liked...because I love my own name so much. LOL.

When I was little my best friend was a girl named Ryan, and she was the only Ryan I knew, so when I met a boy named Ryan in first grade I told him it was a girl's name, and for the whole year I thought he was lying about his name being Ryan because it was obviously a girl name.

For a while I thought a homeless person was just someone whose house had burned down, but they still looked like everyone else and, like, wore a business suit and went to work every day. I was really scared our house would burn down and we would have to be homeless forever, even though my dad was rich. (I never made the connection that we could probably just buy another house, or at least go live with someone we knew.)

I covered for my brother because he would come back late. After that my mother she told me something that makes me scare because I used to believe her when she said the devil is coming to your dream.

Since my mother didn't change her last name when she got married, I didn't realize that other people did when I was five. There were two teachers at my elementary school who were married to each other, and so had the same last name. I thought this meant they were related to each other.

My sisters friend believes that when you become a grown up, you get your grown up name. One day she was talking to her mum and asked "what is my name going to be when i grown up? and what was your name when you were a little girl?"

When I was little I used to believe that when I turned 16 I'd have red curly hair, green sparkly eyes, a hot boyfriend and a red convertible. (I read a lot of Nancy Drew). When I turned 16, I was strangely disappointed to find that my brown hair hadn't changed over night, my dream car was a no show and my Prince Charming hadn't shown up at my all girls boarding school. Growing up sucks.

I used to believe that drag queens were actually queens, princesses, countesses, or any royalty that would be dragged across the ground under the cars at drag races, and they queen dragged the farthest would win. I would always wonder why they enjoyed this, or why there were so much of them. I found out when I was 14, during a class presentation!
