I thought that my parents didn't have names at all. I believed that we called them mom and dad because they didn't have real names to actually called them. I was so shocked when my mom was on the phone and said "Hi, my name is Theresa". I went up to her, tapped her on the shoulder and said "YOU have a name?!"

I used to believe…
When I was in kindergarten, my dad told me that he had a pet dinosaur when he was growing up. The very next day at school it was show and tell so, of course, I stood up in front of everyone and told them about how MY dad used to have a dinosaur. I don't know if any of the other kids believed me, but my teacher sure got a good laugh out of it.
I used to believe that everyone had their own special day of the year called a 'birthday'. During my 1st grade Show and Tell, I told my class that I was special because I was born on my birthday!
i used to think when people said things like "there he is at twelve o'clock" they were talking about the time. I was around 12 until i realized they were talking about direction.
I used to believe that if I wore nothing but painted on clothes to my skin that I would still be considered dressed!
I did this a few times and even convinced my brother that we weren't naked and he got into the habit too.
I used to believe…
When I was little I thought if I didn't have a birthday party, I wouldn't age and my younger sister would start to catch up with me and eventually get ahead, so of course I always was very anxious to have a party!
I remember I used to think that nobody else in the world had the same birthday as me. But then this girl from school told me hers was the same day as mine. I showed lots of excitement when she told me, and later went home thinking that she obviously was lying.(I was about 4 or 5 at the time.)

When I was 6 years old I used to believe that children who lied about whatever, their hair grew in the tongue.
I used to believe I was named after a tree part. My middle name is Lynn, which, to a four-year-old, sounds a lot like tree limb. I was always upset at my parent for such a lame name even after I found out its proper pronounciation and that it had nothing to do with trees.
I used to believe my birthday was a place instead of a day. My birthday is April fourth. I thought that the fourth was the same place you went when you went back and forth. Once my mom told me my birthday was coming up while we were going somewhere in the car, so I was very dissapointed when I found out our final destination wasn't the fourth.

I used to believe your parents PICK your birthday.
I used to believe…
When I was a kid, I would always see a really tall guy (he was in his teens) at my church. He was really tall, he'd literally have to bend down to get past a door frame.
So I told myself he was a hundred years old.
Then, to explain why old people look old and he still looked pretty young, I told myself that first you look young, then look old, and after that "old stage" you start to look young again.
I used to believe…
When I was in 2nd grade my teacher used to say "I've got eyes on the back of my head". It made me think that adults can really grow eyes on the back of their head...but I was misunderstood. By that she means she can sense what's going on in the classroom without looking back..

I used to believe that people who wore glasses were very smart.
I used to believe…
My Birthday is on the 4th August, the same day as the late Queen Mother (Queen Elizabeth of England's Mum). Every year the Royal Marine Band would march and play happy birthday to her, this would always be televised for the evening news. My mother told me that they were playing it for me which made me fee very important, especially as my brother never had the Royal Marine Band playing for him on his birthday. I believed this until I was about 8 years old.
I used to believe…
When I was little, my grandma told me that whatever I called anybody that was bad, I would become that. I called her fat, so she told me that I would be fat too. Now I am. :)
I used to believe…
When I was little, I asked my grandma why she was so fat when the rest of our family is skinny. She told me that she swallowed an elephant, so I told her that when I grew up I was going to swallow an elephant too.
I used to believe that "Anon" was a person who made up a million stories that he used to believe in. I thought it was ridiculous that they would allow so many stories from one person.
This was as of ten minutes ago.
I used to believe that when you grew old you had to change your name to an "old people" name, because I never saw little kids named Martha, or bertha or anything like that. Then I met a girl name Martha. LOL
I used to believe that former Washington, DC mayor Marion Barry was two people, Mary and Barry...and Mary was his wife. When I was 10 I saw it spelled out on the news and finally realized it was just one person.
