Until a couple of minutes ago I used to believe Anon was some unemployed guy that just sat at home all day making up a bunch of stories to put up on this site... until I clicked the link and discovered Anon stands for "anonymous".

when I was little I thought that the army base open-house that happened each year was Smokey the Bear's birthday party (he promotes fire safety in commercials), there would be kids games and sometimes cake. I thought he just really liked tanks and so went for an army theme, and being a celebrity he could afford to go all out. It was such a big place that I didn't find it that strange if I could go for the whole event and not see him.
I didn't realize the truth until I was in my late teens reminiscing with my parents about how I used to love going to Smokey's birthday... they were a little confused.

When my sister and I were around 6 or 7 , I told my sister that the sun bleached dog crap on the front lawn were fossils from dinosaurs and very rare, so she would always go fossil hunting loading up her pockets with dog crap. She did that for a couple years until our mom told her that she was tired of emptying her pockets prior to doing the wash. Fifty years have passed and she still doesn't trust me very much.

My Opa (German for grandfather) told all my cousins and I that his scar on his belly that was really from getting his gall bladder out was from pirates that he fought while he was in the army in Alaska. How dumb were we? Pirates in Alaska against the US Army in sword fights in the 1950's, and we bought it until we were almost teens.

When I was like 3 or 4, I thought people were born with their name. For example, if you're name was Jenny, when you were born, you had a little sign around your neck with "Jenny" written on it! Don't ask me where I came up with this. I was a weird child.

When my younger brother and I were kids, my older brother would tell us he had to check our candy and soda for poison so he would drink half of our sodas and eat most of our candies, then tell us they were all okay to eat.

When my brother was born on my 3rd birthday, I thought he was my birthday present. I ran around saying he was mine, he was my present.
Years later I asked my mom if I could return him and she told me there were no refunds, the store was closed.

When I was 5 or 6, I used to believe that the age you were was the grade you were suppose to be in (like 6 is 6th grade), and that you never stopped growing. I thought that one day I would grow so tall I was going to have to have a hole put in the roof my car so that I could fit in the car when driving.
Funny how I only reached 5'2".

I thought that the difference between girls and boys was that girls have teeth.
I once thought of most names in the world, there were three people with that name, one who goes to school, one who doesn't go to school, and one who is an adult. But for rare names there was only one person with that name.

Growing up, we were taught about Adam and Eve. I just assumed that Adam was black, and Eve was white. When they had a baby, it was Hispanic (at the time, I guess that seemed closest to grey). Then, if a Hispanic person had a baby with an white person, the baby would be Asian. Or, if a Hispanic person and a black person had a child, it was Indian. I had all the races all worked out.

When I was about six years old, and played in this kind of attick in our farm-builing, I believed that my father couldn't see me because I was actually turning into the little dwarf I was pretending to be..maybe not a uniqe story, but funny when you come to think about it:-)

My sister told me that since I was a Scorpio, I would turn into a scorpion on my 21st Birthday. Currently, I'm 20 and my birthday is only 2 months away and I'm still a little scared! :)
I used to think the name Bob was just a name by itself, since I couldn't ever think of a name it could possibly be short for. It always confused me how any loving parent could name a child Bob.
So I came up with the brilliant idea that since the name Rob was short for Robert, that Bob would be short for...yes, Bobert. I held this belief seriously for a solid five years.
