I used to believe that Barry Goldwater was a magical man because his name Goldwater conjured up images of him sparkling and wonderful. I later learned he was a terrible politician.

when i was really little i thought that if you had twins, you had to give them the same name!
i also had two friends who shared the same birthday, so i was certain that that meant they were cousins!

When I was little, I thought that people turned into the opposite gender when they grew up. I have no idea where that comes from.
I also thought that my face was horribly disfigured, like that of a housefly, and that my parents had bought special mirrors that changed what my face looked like, and they paid everyone off to not tell me that my face was weird.

My friend who has bad vision thought that 'Anon' said 'Aron.' She thought it was someone named Aron who was kinda crazy!
I think I believed that on your birthday you didn't turn a year older until your birthday party but this was disproved on my fifth birthday and my mom was rambling about me being five but I said "No I'm still four" because my party wasn't until later that night and my mom said "No you're five."

i used to believe that my younger sis was older than me cuz her b-day was a month before mine. i believed that till i was 8 im 12 now!
I used to think you grew a certain amount on your Birthday, you ONLY grew on your birthday, and on your birthday all your clothes would also grow however much you grew so they would still fit.
I remember my mum saying I had grown out of some clothes quite a few times, and this used to puzzle me. Eventually I decided they had grown like me, just not enough for me to fit into them any more.
I was a weird kid - still kinda am!

When announcers were advertising an upcoming star-studded event on television, they always would name several famous people, and then say, "....and many more!" Well, I always thought that this "Minnie Moore" was another star, maybe the sister of Mary Tyler. For a long time I wondered why I'd never seen her act in anything.

When I was a little girl I used to think that the backs of earrings were made specifically to mimic ornate iron fences.....

When our oldest boy was 5, we bought him a bow-tie, in a brown paper bag, for his first school concert, but his little brother cried because he'd missed out on a present.
In a moment of desperation, we told him, "There's no need to cry, your present is still in the bag."
Of course, the bag was empty, but we told him that only Mommies and Daddies could see the little Fresh-Air inside.
Well, we had that little Fresh-Air doing somersaults, jumping in and out of the bag and all sorts of circus tricks.
He carried that crumpled little brown paper bag around for months, showing it to envious friends and to grown-ups with looks of barely strangled laughter on their faces. We had to warn family in advance that the Fresh-Air was being brought for a visit.
Things came to a head 6 months later when he realised that nobody was feeding the Fresh-Air.
We told him, "He's eating the inside of the paper bag"...
"But there's no holes in the bag", said he, triumphantly...
"But it only eats the inside of the bag", we shot back...
That bought us another couple of weeks. He swears blind now that he twigged it straightaway.
We all know different...

When I was in elementary school, we had a lesson on how racism was wrong, and the teacher was telling us, "You should accept people whether their black, white, purple, or gold."
For the longest time I thought that there actually were purple and gold people, and I always wanted to meet one.
I used to beleive that the singing of "Happy Birthday" was the actual process of making you a year older. Therefore when I had it sung to me at nursery school and at home, I thought it would add two years on to my age!

In my local fire station there was a really fat man who was the care taker, i always assumed his name was Dennis because this is what it says on the front of the fire engines, i thought this was because he was too fat to be a fireman so they put his name on the truck instead, it was only a few months ago i realised his name was desnond.......not dennis as i had always called him!!!!1
I thought, Until i read a section on here, That anon was a person!!!!! I was thinking"MAn,That person has had a messed up childhood"
I used to believe that people with hydrocephalus were called "waterheads" and the adults lived in the woods at Grant Park (Atlanta, GA) and if you drove out there after midnight and honked your car horn they'd all come running out of the woods and bite the tires off your car.
.... That was the story a neighbor kid told me and a group of other neighborhood kids. None of us believed her so she offered to prove it. She said a "waterhead" lived a couple of houses down from her so we all followed her to her house. We hid behind her mother's station wagon and waited. Soon a car pulled up and 2 people got out - a woman and a man with an enormous head. Why the fact that such a human condition as Hydrocephalus existed also confirmed her biazrre story of tire biting in our young little minds, I'll never know, but we believed it after that.

I believed that my dad and his best buddy were hawk-eye and his pal from mash... also at another stage I thought they were the layland brothers ( a show on Australian tv)
I was convinced that Ronald McDonald was the only clown who was blessed with the mutant X-Men gift of fluent speech... thus he had to represent the whole existence of clowndom and therefore he was deemed the most respected and greatest, richest clown ever. He was livin it up in what I envisioned, a "Ronald" ranch with golden statues dedicated to himself, french fry fountains and an arched throne that he sat on.
(He also had a playland as big as Disney World and a ball pen as big as an Olympic pool.)
I would envy his clown children....................
I have a big imagination.
I was also upset when I wanted a happy meal... he didn't pop up and give me one.
But if that were true... I'm sure I'd be one tubby kid. But at the time, I'd think that Ronald's kids would eat happy meals all the time... gosh they must be HUGE, I would think...
I was weird...
