I used to think that there were left and right socks, to go with left and right shoes. It took a long time for me to get dressed as I put the sock on one foot, then the other, trying to figure out which foot it was made for.
I was born on July 2nd and because my family would all get together on the 4th, we would celebrate my birthday then. Every year we would end the day watching fireworks, and so for years I believed that the fireworks were my birthday present from God!

Both my parents coincidentally have the same last names, so when I was little, I always thought that you can only marry people with the same last names. i.e. your brothers/sisters...

Whenever I would finish taking a bath, I would put on baby powder (a lot). Oh how I loved that feeling that I would get - I was just like my mother, primping and getting ready, feeling so grown-up.
My older sister told me that if I used any more powder, I would turn really white, ghost/sheet/snow white. After putting a lot on and seeing that it wasn't disappearing, I believed her.
I still don't use baby powder, even though I now know that it won't turn your skin a ghostly white.

Clowns had hairy backs. Children got stuck, couldn't get free, and starved to death. Clowns thought it was funny, and would look for children to stick in their back hair. I was terrified of clowns, and would run screaming if I saw one.

A friend and I had the same name, but mine was spelled "Sara", and hers was "Sarah." I thought that my name was better because it didn't have the "h" and I kept prenouncing my friend's name Sara-HUH because I didn't know the "h" was silent.
I used to believe that human beings were human "beans", and it was just a stroke of luck that one was born a human bean rather than a regular bean. I used to think that mexican jumping beans (before I heard there was an insect inside them) were sort of a "missing link" betweeen regular beans and "human beans".
I used to believe that my real name, Jessica, was unique, because I'd never really known anyone else with that name. So I'd often get confused when I heard someone call the name Jessica, even if it was on TV.

In our class were two girls called Emma who, for clarity, were known as "Emma" and "Em". I was a very proper little kid, and was highly offended when everyone started singing a song about their urinary functions - they were nice girls!
It went "A B C D E F G, H I J K
Em and Emma pee......."

My birthday is in July. When I was little, I thought the 4th of July fireworks were in honor of MY birthday.

My brother had a friend and his dad would tell him little fibs but he'd believe them. Once his dad said that he (the dad) was born with a cone head but every night his mom would rub it until it was round like a normal head.

My family emigrated from an Eastern European country to live in the USA. After a few years, we all went to the Old Country to visit the relatives. One relative told us they had a very interesting doctor visiting heir little village, and he was BLACK! He had never seen a black person in his life. He never watched American TV, but did see movie posters. We told them that we lived and worked with people of many races in America. That impressed him very much. He thought most black people only appeared in movies like James Bond, or became doctors.

My mom has a thick "Rhode Islandese" Accent, and for the longest time (Up until I was 14-15) I thought my middle name was Collin, then I was suprised when I finally saw it written out - "Carlin"
I used to believe that there was a specail place where everyone in the world went when they were 5. Since I was four, I was very much looking forward to my 5th birthday when I would get to go to the specail "Five-year old Land". Needless to say, I was very very disappointed when I turned 5.
i used to believe that Anon was a persons name...
until i learned it stood for anonymous :)
I used to believe…
This is ridiculous. For about 6 months I used to think "Anon" was some weird person that had nothing better to do than submit hundreds of beliefs. When I saw beliefs that referred them themselves as a girl and others as a boy, I got really confused. It was only about 5 minutes ago that I clicked on this mysterious Anon person and discovered that it's just an anonymous submission.
