I used to believe and wonder why, my dads unmarried sister Hannah had a different surname to us; we were Wood and she was Tanner; as everyone called her Anne Tanner!

When my sister Kylie was about 10 some kid in the neighborhood came up to her and was talking about this girl that lived on the end of our street who killed little kids whose names started with the letter K. Poor Kylie got so scared that one day when we went to play at a friends house down the street she wouldn't pass the house that had been pointed out to her. She even started crying. Then to make things even worse the girl came outside and Kylie ran home screaming.

My birthday is on February 4th. When I was three years old, I thought that because I was turning 4 on the 4th, I would turn 5 on the 5th, 6 on the 6th, and so on and so forth. I wondered what would happen when I turned 28, though, until someone, I think my sister, explained...

When I was young I believed I was some legendary superhero called "The Great Back", - along the lines of The Incredible Hulk etc. Imagine my disappointment when some years later, I discovered I was indeed "The Great Back" but only in the sense that my Mam used to say; "Get washed son, you're as black as the grate back"

When my friend Liz and I were in second or third grade, I thought it would be really slick to trick the neighbor boy into thinking Liz's name was really Zelda. He fell for it, and we felt so cool, almost like spies. Sometimes I would slip up and call her "Liz" in front of my neighbor, but I covered it up by saying I was confusing "Zelda" with her twin sister, Liz.

When I was 7 or 8 I was too lazy to change my clothes everyday and so one day my mom told me that if I wore the same clothes for more than one day they would get stuck on me and the only way I could get them off was with surgery. I still cant wear the same outfit for over a day

Like many children are told, I thought that if you made a face for too long your face would freeze like that.
One night, I went to my parents crying as I was afraid to go to sleep because I thought if I fell asleep, I'd close my mouth and it would stick like that and I'd suffocate.

When I was younger, I had a chinese name and a christian name (which was really more of a nickname). When my brother was born, he didn't have a christian name and I asked my mum why. She told me it was because my grandparents had died, and because of that, all the kids in the family who were born after the grands death couldn't have christian names too. I believed her until I was 20. can't believe I was that stupid.

i used to believe that anon was some weird classical/poet/writer/songwriter/philosither kind of guy, a bit like aosoup or somthing
i always thought anon was a person, and i thought he felt a sense of accomplishment by submitting more entries than anyone on the site, and i hated him because he seemed conceited. i saw entries where he was a girl, where he was a boy, and where he was 20, and where he was 9, but unlike other people, instead of thinking anon must not be a guy, i just thought he was making up every single entry for attention.

there was this kid in school called wendy when we were 7 in the mid 70s, and the bands Abba and Brotherhood of Man who won the Eurovision were very popular, she told everyon her mother was the brown haired one out of abba, and when it was brotherhood of man thateveryone liked better she said her mum was in that too, and thats why she knew all the dances i beleived her too, and i was dead jealous, i went home and said to my mum, its not fair why isnt my mum a pop star who can show me how to do dancing and make up and have lots of money my mum laughed her head off when i told her but i still beleived wendy not my mum!

When I was very young I asked my father what "mulatto" meant. He explained it was when a mixed racial couple had a child and the child turned out poka-dotted. For years I scanned crowds hoping to find a kid with spots, imagining them to look somewhat like a Jersey cow.

When Dame Edna Everage once said in a talkshow that he was born with purple hair, I thought she was serious, and I have proclaimed this believe at parties for years!

Ever since I started reading this site whenever i saw the name "Anon" under a confession i thought it was all the same person named Anon, and i was amazed that the same person could have so many different beliefs, and i'd find certain entries by him that contradicted each other, therefore i thought he was making up every entry, so i'd mark every one down because i was mad at him. Just a second ago something inside my brain clicked! I'm such a freak.

It's 1958, I'm age 3 and on an aeroplane for the first time, my mother explained when the plane landed in india all the people were going to be coloured....imagine my disapointment to find only white or brown people..no green blue or yellow as i'd hoped!
I thought that clowns were born that way, with the funny hair and make-up. It was just like any other birth defect a child can imagine. I assumed that they worked in the circus because that was the only place they could get work. For a long time I didn't want children, just in case they were born clowns. To this day I find clowns kind of creepy
