when my sister was 6 I told her there was a toy land on my ceiling and i would go in there when it is night. She believed me until she was 8
I worked for a daycare watching the 2 and 3 year olds and one day I had a little boy and a little girl. The little girl, Diamond, her mother came to pick her up in the middle of nap time. When the little boy woke up, realizing that Diamond was gone, ran up to me and asked where Diamond was. I told him that her mommy came to pick her up. The with the most innocent eyes he looked up at me and said, "but Miss Sara, the man on tv said that Diamonds are forever."

When i was a baby, my parents called me weezer. This nickname stuck with me, but was not used very much. My dad eventally evolved the nickname into "Louise" which my dad used every once in a while. I went till the time i was about 7 thinking my middle name was louise, thinking that it had to be a middle name. My real middle name is Alan.

When I was young I asked my mom when I would change my name for a grown-up name. I was convinced that we were given a "child name" and that when we would grow, we would change name for an "adult name" like Rita or Gertrude.

When I was little, I believed that you grew to be old by choice. By old, I mean, you decided you wanted to be about 28.
At age 15, or so, when you looked perfect (what was I thinking?), you'd have to decide whether you wanted to look good or whether you wanted to drive, vote, have a cool job, etc.
I decided that most people made the decision to get to do all of those things, not knowing how bad it would really get. Like they didn't figure that wrinkles, moles, excessive (read: any) body hair and breath that smelled like beer, garlic and cigarettes would ever be part of the equation.
I spent a good bit of time when I was 7 or so feeling sorry for all the grownups that I knew that they had made that decision. I knew all the people on TV were smart, because they knew not to make that decision. On TV, women had babies and THEIR boobies didn't get all floppy and THEY didn't turn into monsters!
Go figure. I grew up to be a monster! ;-)

When I was younger, I used to believe that my mom's name was Mommy. I had no idea that she had a real name like I did :-p

In gradeschool I had a friend named Renee. For about five months I thought her name was Grenade. My mom said, "are you sure it's not Renee?" I told her, "No, it's Grenade." and she looked at my dad with a knowing smile.
I used to believe all nice button up shirts were called blouses until I was in a crowd (of all places) and told my male cousin that I liked his blouse. Everyone laughed and my cousin said boys don't wear blouses.

Just by coincidence, the five children in my family were born throughout the year, with the oldest being born earliest in the year on down to the youngest being born latest in the year. So it was my belief that the oldest kids always had their birthdays first, and the youngest last. I thought if someone was born on December 31st - their parents couldn't have any more children!

When I was about 5 years old I remember hearing the name "Pat Buchanan" on the news a lot, but it never occured to me that "Pat" could be a man's name. I always heard it (and still sometimes think of him as) "Patthew Cannon."
i thought that when you were a grownup you changed you name, because old people had weird names.
like all my friends names were "sarah" and "chris" etc, but all the grownups had weird names like 'hilda" and "lily" so i thought you changed it when you got older to make it more "adult"

When I was about 3 years old, I thought that if you had long hair, you were a girl and if you had short hair, you were a boy. My mom told me that I was a girl numerous times, but since I had short hair, I just said "I'm not a girl, I'm a boy!"
I used to think that clowns were a species separate from humans. They looked a lot like humans, but their faces were pure white with huge red lips and round red noses, and they wore weird clothes and couldn't talk. They lived far far away. At friends' birthday parties and the like, whenever there was a clown, I would go up to them to determine whether they were a "real" clown or not. I would always find that they were just people wearing makeup, and I would become very disappointed. I'd go up to the clown and say "you're not really a clown. That's just makeup." I think this confused them a lot.

Once, my brother told me that there was a little man in the computer and that the only time you could see him was when you first turned it on (it was a mac), and also that the gray marks on the mouse cord was from his toilet.

My grandmother completely convinced her little brother that he was adopted because his name didn't end in a y-sound like the rest of their family's names did. He never told their parents, but still worried years later that he really was adopted.

When I was young (about 5 years old) my family had a camper and we went to the same campingsite almost every weekend. I liked the owner of the campingsite, but one day some teenagers told me he was werewolf! so i was scared of him until around i was 8 years old! then i realized the fooled me!

When I was very young (3 or 4 I think), I was led to believe by my Dad that my last name was from an ancient indian word. I held this belief until I was around 9 or 10 and shared this information with some of my friend. They laughed so hard they cried. I said "come with me" and took them to see my dad. After telling my dad about it, he started busting out laughing as well. Apparently he was joking with me and never thought that I'd retain that information. I was humiliated, but luckily I had good friends that didn't give me too hard of a time about it. :)
I think that incident is the root of my cynical nature. ;)

When i was little i always believed whatever my brother said.....foolish ... i know....one day i was walking to the backyard and he said " STOP!! you have a jumper on you". i didnt know what he meant so i screamed "Whats a jumper do?". While looking all over myself. Then he told me that they suck your brains out, so i ran screaming to my mother "have i got a jumper on me?". She said "yeah, of course you do" (it was a cold day at the time). So i ran screaming inside, wacking myself all over and cried for ages....Until my brother came and told me it was a joke and laughing his head off, ahhh welll i was so easy, but he got grounded for 2 weeks...but i cant get over it...
