Our pediatrian was named Dr. Woodhead. I remember my brother and I (under 7 years old) were horrified and scared that our doctor had a wooden head. It took my mom a while to explain the concept of a last name!

I used to eat alot, and my mom would never make enough for me and my brothers. So while they were young I would tell them that I put poison in their food and that only I have the antidote. Sure enough they would cry and stop eatting and I would take their food.

When I was about 3, our neighbor had a baby. Her son, who was my age, ran over to us and told us that his mom had a girl. Well, my parents asked him what her name was. He said "Banana Gold". Of course, my parents were completely baffled about why the baby was named Banana Gold. They spent a while figuring out what Kevin really meant. It turned out that the baby's name was Amanda Nicole.

When I was two my family gave me a Chinese hat. They hoped it would tether me to my Chinese roots. It did, and I wore the hat everwhere -- until my aunt told me (well, she never actually said this, but this is what I morbidly interpreted) that a monster lived in the hat and was just waiting for the right moment to cave in my skull and eat my brain. I never wore it again, and my family didn't know why until a couple years ago.
i thought that everyone's birthday was the day after their acutal birthday ever since i went to a birthday party in preschool. My friend had his party a day before his birthday (which i wasn't aware of) and everyone told me that he was turning 5 tomorrow. For about the next 5 years i thought this same exact way...lol...

When I was little, maybe 6, I really really really wanted a puppy. So my devious older brother (9 at the time) told me if I ran around the neighborhood naked screaming "LOOK AT ME!" I could get anything I wanted. So guess what I did? Yup- you guessed it. Ran around our coldesac screaming "LOOK AT ME!" Buck naked. I believed that till i was 7. Then, I was totally embarrased. Still get teased about it. Not pleasant.

At around age 6 or 7, I asked my parents about leap year... They gave me some fake explanation, and then proceded to screw with my head by telling me all about "Leap Birthdays"... They told me that once in a person's life time, you get to take a leap-birthday. By doing so, you got twice as many gifts, but none the following year. They also noted that people usually save their leap-birthday for when they turned 16 or 18, in an effort to obtain a car. Keep in mind it was only a couple weeks away from *my* birthday.
About a week later, I approached them... "Mom, Dad, I've given it a lot of thought...and I've decided to take my leap birthday this year. There's a lot of gifts I want this year, so I think it'll work out."
My parents didn't stop laughing for quite some time...

Up until a few moments ago when I read the belief by Maddy, I thought that Anon was a real person, too. I thought that that was all this "Anon" character would do all day... just sit in his room in his mother's basement with no life and just add things to this website... all... day...

My Friend learned when she was little that Gym was short for gymnasium. For the longest time she thought her dad's name was Gymnasium because his name was Jim. He even told her his name was James but she still wouln't believe him and called him Gymnasium.
I used to get the words anonymous and unanimous confused. So whenever they said something on the news like "The senate made a unanimous vote today against the _________ bill...." i thought " well duh its unanimous.... no ones supposed to know how you in particular voted...."
The sad thing is that most people consider me above average in spelling and comprehension and stuff like that........

When I was a little girl I used to believe that when you told a lie your tounge would turn black. To this day, when my children tell me a "fib" I ask them to stick out their tounges.
I used to think if you dressed like the popular people uyou would be popular. So one day I wore an outfit that the most popular girl in school had worn a day before. I walked up to her and said,"Hi. I don't no if you noticed but im wearing the same outfit as you did yesterday," She said"Yeah but I found out yesterday that that outfit was worn my a teacher earlier in the year!" i asked the teacher if I could call my mom for a change of clothes!

My date of birth was July 6th; two days after America celebrates "Independence Day" on the fourth. Historically, my parents would combine the two holidays and celebrate them both on the fourth because my parents were off work on that day. Typically, we'd have the traditional Birthday Dinner & Cake and then attend a fireworks demonstration. When I was a child, I believed that they were sending up the fireworks just for me because it was my birthday! It was a real shocker when I matured and discovered that they weren't! But .... to this day, there isn't a fireworks display on the 4th of July that I'll miss. And, I'll allow myself to become completely ensconced in the experience and feel that wonder and awe that I did back then. I have always retained a bit of that childlike wonder within me, and it serves me well in life!

I used to see lot of quotes from Anonymous, and I used to think that this Anonymous fellow must have been a great scholar.

In 6th grade my teacher would put quotes on the board for us to copy down, and many of them were by "Anon." I figured he must have been a really great philosopher or something, but I didn't ask who he was because I didn't want to appear uneducated.

When I looked in the Chicago phone book and found all kinds of people with first names like Jas, Thos and Chas, I asked my Mom how come we didn't know anybody with those names. ... That's when I learned about abbreviations.

Up until a couple of days ago, I thought, like most of you all guys, that 'Anon' was an actual person...pronounces A-non. I was thinking "Geez! He posts here alot on thr Sex-sex board!" (I was there when I kept seeing that 'name') I also noticed in some beliefs Anon says he is a boy, and in others, a girl...I got con-foosed! Then I got the idea that he was making up all these very funny beliefs.
I'm shmart!
