I used to believe that if I went around saying when my birthday was that people would show up with presents for me.

When I was little, my older brother told me that if I looked inside the gem of a class ring, I would be blinded forever. I believed him, why would a big brother lie?

I have a mole on the side of my face and once when I was 5 or 6 my dad told me I was a robot and the mole is where they charge me up at night and on my birthday they were going to change me in for a new model. He didn't understand why I was upset, he thought it was a funny joke. :) Ugg men

My brother's birthday falls on Memorial Day weekend. When we were little, we lived on the main street and the Shriners would have a parade that weekend, but I always thought the parade was for his birthday!

When I was 5 my Mom would say your Birthday is right around the corner. I use to run and look around the corners of the house looking for it. Who knows what I was think. But it was never there.

i never understood how/why each culture had such different types of names. i asked my mom how people come up with such unusual names for their children and she said each culture has their own technique....for example the chinese drop a frying pan on the ground and whatever sound it makes is the name of the child.

My sister Marti (4 years older than I) used to take small toys from me during car rides and put them under her lap. She said that they went to "Cabbage Patch Land" and that she couldn't get them back nor would I ever see them again. I suspect that she threw them away everytime because I never saw them thereafter. We are now 21 and 17.

when I was much younger (I'm 21 now) I went through a short phase when I thought everybody had a birthday every month rather than once a year. I have no clue where I got the idea.

When I was five my sister told me many times that I was really twenty-five and on my next birthday I'd change back to my real age--twenty-six. She said I'd be reunited with my husband that day and have a baby. I believed her.

When I was very young, I used to think that if I could see a woman's feet, she was naked. This confused me for some time as a child.

I still have issues with feet to this day. And no, there is no foot fetish involved.

i believed what i was told about wishing for something before you blew out your birthday candles on you cake... if you don't tell anyone, it will come true. EVERY YEAR i wished for a horse and NEVER told anyone. i just knew the only way i was going to get one was to never tell... ever.

i never got a horse and my perents never had to listen to me beg for one.
that was a mean trick!

We told our little sister that she had a long bushy tail and she fully believed us for ages!!

When I was little, my mom would always use the phrase "Your Dad Is Going To Have Your Head!" when ever my brothers and I got in trouble. I use to believe her and would imagine our heads hanging on the wall like trophies from a hunt.

For some reason my parents used to celebrate my "half birthday" (I was an only child). Since my birthday is September 17 then my "half b-day" is March 17, St. Patrick's Day. As a child I didn't understand that everyone's half birthday fell exactly 6 months from their actual birthday. I thought St. Patrick's Day was EVERYBODY'S half birthday and that was why we celebrated it!

I used to believe…

when my sister was yonger, about 6-7, i told her if she was ever mean to me, or being bad, we would have to ship her back into the box she came from. needlesss to say she is never good.

My Brother once told me (before I could read) that the dish washing detergent in the cupboard was unset Jelly. So I poured myself a bowl of it and put a spoonfull in my mouth, much to my distaste. I was so angry and never forgave him.

I got mine back years later when I was old enough to be cunning. My brother asked me if I could get him a glass of coke, so I thought 'this is my chance to get back at him' so I presented him with a glass of Soy Sauce which He downed and spat out in distaste. Sweet revenge. We still play jokes on each other to this day and try to out do eack other each time. Bu this was th start of it all.

There was a picture hanging in my best friend's room when I was little. It included a dance class, decked out in bridesdresses, and also had one groom. My friend assured me that she was "the real bride" and that they other brides were just there to dance. I believed her up to last year, when she told me that it was false as an afterthought. I was crushed.
