My parents used to tell me that back in the day ( not sure when ) if you lied people would gather around you for a ceremony where someone would cut out your tongue.

I used to think that the heads of babies, toddlers, newborns, etc. were giant peas covered in meat but once you became a kid the pea would turn into a skull and stuff... odd belief.

When I was a little girl, my mom and my aunt both wore glasses, and my dad and uncles didn't. I spent a good amount of time believing that all girls would need glasses when they got older.

I wear glasses now. Go figure.

There was an aquarium called "Atlantis Marine World" near where my brothers and I grew up. This was the first place my brother heard the word "marine", so he thought "Marines" were people who worked at aquariums.

Ironically, he is now going to a military academy (to be in the Army, not the Marines.)

when i was a child, i used to believe that all the parents were obliged to give to thir sons the names with the same initials just because my bro and me have the same initial.

At my preschool there was this girl named Ally. But my teacher had a bit of an accent, so I thought her name was Owie, which is what I called cuts, bruises, scrapes, etc. I could never figure out why her parents would name her that. Poor Owie.

When I first visited Greece,I heard people saying 'ela' which means: "come on" or "come here." I thought they all knew my name and were calling out to me since

When I was a child, I used to think that you couldn't touch a famous person, because one day i saw my favorite soccer player and i asked my mom if i could touch and speak with him, and my mom laughed and then she told me " yes you can".

When I was a kid, I always noticed that adults and children seemed to have different sorts of names, and it wasn't common for adults to have the same name as a kid. I thought that was because there were kid names and grown-up names, and everyone would receive a new name when they became an adult, so I always wondered what mine would be

When I was three years old and had primary school in a few months,I believed I was the only boy named Ben,then I met another boy named Ben and this like blew my mind.So I was like what's your name?and he said Ben.And I said no,that's my name.So this went on for a while until I accepted I wasn't the only Ben.To this day were great friends

My grandmother is really ageist, and she said that nobody is really an adult until they're thirty-seven. I really thought it was true, and that the government was stupid for letting people vote and drive and own property before then. It was only upon discussing it in class that I realized that was horrible and oppressive and ageist. I still feel stupid and guilty for ever thinking that.

When I was younger I used to think that people had all been brutally de-clawed at birth since we don't have claws like most mammals.

I thought that my birth weight of 9 pounds was the golden standard and any baby weighing less than that was sub-par. This changed by the time I gave birth myself lol

When I was little I thought everyone's relatives had the same names as mine so at preschool when a girl's uncle came to pick her up I said "Hey, your Scott's here!"
