I used to believe…

When I was little, I had a best friend who often told me information that was quite false. Unfortunately, I was not much better. She told me in art class that the teacher told her that Vincent Van Gogh cut off his ear to sell it for art supplies. I told her that she wasn't right. It was because he wanted to give it to his girlfriend.
Wow.

I used to believe…

When I was about five years old, my brother told me that there were 6 other people who were exactly like me in every way and they had the same name and everything. He told me that there was one of me for each continent. So the next year We went to England (I live in North America) and I went around to everyone asking: "Have you seen me?"

I believed that there were seven of me until I was about seven years old.

I used to believe…

When I Was About 4, I Used To Get This Painful Little Bump (Canker Sore) On The Side Of My Tongue That Kept Coming Back. So, I Cried To My Mother About It And She Told Me That It Was A Lie Bump. Miraculously, It Always Appeared Whenever I Lied.(Which Was Probably Triggered From The Nervousness Of Lying)
I Believed This Until I Was 10 Years Of Age.

I was looking at this site and some people put the optional name. I didnt really look at alot of them but i kept seeing Anon. So me being the smart person i am, im thinking this anon. person writes alot of these beliefs. i was wondering if they were all true or if this "anon" person was making all of them up.

Then of course it came to me anon meaning anonymous.

I was reading this site my sister came in and joined me. She saw that a lot of the stories were written by "Anon" It took her about 40 stories (not all by Anon)to figure out that Anon was short for anonymous. Now my sister is one of the smartest girls in her grade so I was surprised.

By the way, my sister is 13.

When I was about 6 or 7, my older sister told me that a day on Earth was really 2 seconds long, but it felt like 24 hours to the people on it. I belived this for years, and one day I finally questioned her about it. She burst out laughing and told me that she was a stupid child back then. I knew it couldn't have been true!!!

I used to believe that if you crossed your fingers when you were lying, you weren't really lying.

I used to believe…

My brother believed that my mother had ESP, and could tell when he was lying, but only when she touched him. So he always tried to avoid being touched when he lied about something.

Of course, I knew that he was just such a *bad* liar, that anyone would have known just by looking at him! No special skills required...

As a child I believed that clothes would naturally shrink over time; I didn't realize that I was growing larger.

I had an old nightgown of my own that was too big for one of my dolls, so I hung it in the closet to let it shrink. By the time I found it again in my closet, I had come to understand that I was getting bigger and my clothes were not shrinking over time!

I used to believe…

We used to tell our children that if they lied, that a white spot would appear on their nose that only adults could see. It worked of course and we knew they believed it ... because sometimes they would come in to tell us something odd ... and would cover their nose w/one of their hands as they told us
