I thought when I was four that a year was the same as a day. And then when I found out I had a birthday once every year, I was ecstatic, and I thought that logically, at some point every day, it was my birthday. When my real birthday came, my fifth one, I began crying when there were only five candles on my cake. I kept saying that I 'should be thirty-two by now!'

When I was younger, I knew a Jewish kid that was born on Christmas. Without asking anyone, I automatically thought that anyone born on Christmas had to be Jewish because they couldn't celebrate their birthday and Christmas on the same day. I'm a teenager now (16) and after I finally told one of my friends a few weeks ago, I realize how stupid of a belief this was.

As a kid, when I was first told that I would grow, outgrow my clothes, and need nwe ones, it was a disquieting and fearsome prospect. I envisioned that one day I would be taken to a clothing store naked because I'd outgrown my old clothes and couldn't wear them anymore.

When I was little I saw an episode of The Golden Girls. In it the girls were throwing their friend a surprise birthday party, and he ended up having a heart attack and died. After watching that I believed that you could only die on your brithday. So every year the night before my birthday I would get really excited about the presents and party I would get. But then I'd get really sad because I thought I might die. I'd pray to God and ask him to spare me for another year. Needless to say I haven't watched an episode of The Golden Girls since then.

My mother tells me that when I was about 2 or 3, I came running into the house crying desperately saying "I am NOT a lion! I am NOT a lion!" and I would NOT be calmed down.
She took me outside to where the neighbor kids, all older, were playing in the sandbox.
I had apparently told them it was MY sandbox and they had to leave, to which Edward replied:
"You're lyin'!"
