I used to believe…

My middle name is Neiah which is pronounced "near" and when i was about 10 (i'm now 13) my Mum told me that she actually wasn't sure how to pronounce my middle name (my Dad got it out of a book) and it might actually be pronounced "Nay" which totally mortified me as my first name is Jay (not shortened). I was very naive at the time and told a group of mates that my middle name might be pronounced "Nay" which destroyed my self confidence. I asked my Dad if Mum was right and he said she was lying but the damage has allready been done. I have no idea who to belive and I am now fully embarrased by my middle name and if i'm asked i say i havn't got one.

I used to think people with old-lady sort of names (Helen, Betty, Betsy, etc) would age twice faster than anybody else. I also felt special because my name was a young-ish sort of name!

I use to think that your parents decided wether or not you were a boy or girl and when your birthday would be , I didn't know that the day you were born would be your birthday

I was so smart when I was seven years old. I could sleep a few minutes later if I just put my school clothes on the night before, and slept in them. The bonus was I would do this no matter what I was wearing...dresses included.

When I was 4 or 5 I was convinced I wanted to be a model. When I told my older brother and sister this, they asked if I wanted to be a nude model or...the "other kind," and they made nude sound like the answer I was suppose to say. My mother was thrilled when I announced that my siblings told me to be a nude model and I was excited!

when i was like 5 or 6, and in daycare, this one girl, joelle, told me that she had one of those big nice monster-thingies like in "the never-ending story". hers was named black beauty, and she told me that one of these nights she was going to come around to my house and all my friends' houses (at the daycare place) and we would go for a nice ride on black beauty. i actually packed and told my parents that if the doorbell rang in the middle of the night, it was for me. well, Black Beauty never came. i was absolutely crushed when joelle told me that it was all just a big lie.

I thought all girls were born in winter and all boys were born in summer. I also always thought that eventually, I'd be older than my brother and sister. I'd say "One day, I'll be 10 and you'll only be 5!" Even though I was the youngest. And we'd argue for hours about that.

When I was a kid, people always used to tell me how skinny I was, so whenever I used to get into an elevator, I would jump over the crack between the elevator and the floor because I was afraid that I would fall in.

(This one is really odd, you have to know, this was after watching the movie the 13th year 5 times) I thought that I would turn into a mermaid on my 13th birthday and seeing as I am 14, my inner child is still depressed about it.

When my cousin was young we told him that when he went into grade two he had to get a very large needle in the backside and only boys had to get it. We told him that if he didn't get it the police would take him to jail and he cried. Later that night we had his older sister call the house and pretend that she was a doctor making his appointment with his mom. He was soo upset that he slammed his door and cried. It wasn't until he went to grade two and never had to get the shot did he realize that we were just playing a prank.

I came to this site and read some of the things people wrote...and I realized that a lot of the really funny ones were by this person called "Anon". It was weird cause I thought, wow I havent heard THAT name before but I guess it's pretty popular. I finally realized that Anon stood for Anonymous.

When I very little my parents used to call me Aja (Asia) the pill because i always bugged them. On my first day of Pre-school we did the name game where you go around the circle and tell everyone your name, and yes as you can guess i thought my name was really Aja the pill. My mom was so embarassed when the teacher confronted her.

I used to believe that i was the only person in the world who had my name. My nickname was Cassie, but it was used so often, it just kinda became my name. I was very angry when another girl in my small catholic elementary school stole my name from me. I had to be called Catherine instead, my real name. I hated it.

When I was about 8 or 9 I convinced my little brother, who was about 6 or 7 at the time, that every time i sung the 'pink panther' tune a kangaroo was coming to chase him. He was so scared and I always tease him about it now!
