My name is Derek and I used to think I was I was the only one. (Derek that is) Everyone spelled my name either Derrick, or Derik. When I told them it was D-e-r-e-k, they always said, "Well thats a weird way to spell it!"

When I was very little, in elementary school, my brother told me that when I was a baby, he had taught me how to catch frisbees in my mouth, like a dog. He stopped doing it, though, and over time, I forgot how, hence why I wasn't able to do it anymore.
We had to write a small "report" talking about ourselves, telling what we thought about ourselves and our lives, like explaining who we were. I mentioned, "And when I was little, I could catch frisbees in my mouth." I totally believed him. The other day when visiting my mom, I found the very report I wrote. It was true. I wrote that. She kept it for that reason.

You know when you couldn't wear your clothes any more because they got too small for you? I used to think that the clothes actually did get smaller - not that I got bigger!

My big brother let me into a little secret when we were kids... My plastic red ankle length wellies were the same a the ones sported by Jesus Christ Our Lord in his famous water-walking stunt('just ask Father Callaghan' he says). Furthermore, they work even better on the bonfires. I'm 31 and still have 3rd degree burns up the inside of my shins, Father Callaghan is long gone and Big Brother is no much smaller and a lot less convincing.

When I was little, Mom, my sister, Nancy, and I would go to a bakery in the next town. One day, I was thirsty, so I drank from the hose that they used on the delivery trucks. Nancy convinced me that, because I drank from the hose, she could turn me into a truck. she would point her finger at my face then move it around in a circle, telling me, "ooooh your eyes are turning into head-lights! oooh now your mouth is the grill!' so forth, so on. I would scream and run for Mom. (To this day, Nancy still does it and it makes the hair stand up on my neck!)

When I was in kindergarden, I thought my birthday was november the 31st, which is no such thing. My mom isn't american and has an accent, so when she told me it was november 30th it sounded like 31th. My sister caught on to what I thought when I was in first grade, and told me my birthday was on the 30th,just in time, cause in that grade, we made a birthday tree, so it was just in time.

My brother kindly told me that I was so ugly my parents had to pay people to act behind 'mirrors' everywhere I went so that I would have a normal life and not know that I was hideously ugly. He also told me this was why our family was poor.

i once asked my dad how grownups got their signatures because I really wanted to have one. He told me you went to a signature bank and paid ten dollars and they gave you one. He thought I knew he was joking - until I asked him the next day where the closest one was!
