I remember a down-filled jacket I had always wanted (you know the large puffy-looking type).
One Christmas Santa brought it for me and I was thrilled until I looked at a label on the jacket that said "outerwear", which I mis-read as "underwear" and I refused to ever put that jacket on. I thought it was ridiculous that anyone would wear underwear outside their clothes to stay warm!
Childrenbeware of what you ask for (and always read the tag twice!)

Someone I know (honest!) has his birthday on December 25
and spent a long time believing he was actually Jeseus.
I used to believe that the name "Geoff" was pronounced "Key-off" and that's where they got the name for the guy in 'Battle of the Planets'.
I used to believe that I could tell the time by looking at the clouds and imagining I could see numbers. What I could actually see was the church clock in Audenshaw, and as it stopped a lot my friends were never very impressed with my David Blaine-esque talents.
I used to believe that my birthday was when the new year started and everyone turned a year older on that day. Everyone else just had to wait to get older until my birthday (My birthday's actually in the middle of June).
I believed their was an Indian girl that lived in Canada that had the same birthday as me and was the same age as me, and it was really her in the picture on the birthday card she sent me. Coincidently, my grandfather used to tell be bedtime stories about an Indian girl. Hmm. Unfortunatly, I was a very skeptical child, and soon figured out that my grandfather had bought a birthday card for me while he was in Canada, and written me a letter as if he were the girl. Hence it was in his handwriting. I couldn't have been more than 6.

When I was little I saw the movie IT. I wouldn't go to the bathroom, or take a shower alone because I thought a clown would come through the water and eat me. Since then I've been afraid of clowns.

One day when I was 5 or 6, I noticed a strange lump in the pavement. The boys with whom I played convinced me that they had killed and buried my sister there that morning. When I pointed out that my sister was playing at the top of the road, they told me she was just the robot they had made to replace her. I believed them for nearly a week.
