My parents have an old family friend named Laurette. When I was a tyke, I always got her name mixed up and called her "Roulette". It took me years to get it right. One day, while joking about my old habit, she thanked me for, "Comparing me to a gambling table!"

when I was little I ask my dad what my name was. Just to be funny he gave me a boy name (i am a girl of course!) he said it was fred! so when i went to kindergarden i told everyone i was fred. people stil, call me that today! ha

My middle name is Wynne, and until I was about 6 I thought it was spelled 'win' and that my parents gave me that name because I was really great and would win at everything!

I used to tell everyone my name was Nancy (it isn't even close). Later, when people would ask her how Nancy was doing, she'd just give them a blank stare and ask, "who?"
They always thought she wasn't all there or something, until the day she realized what I was telling everyone, and started setting them straight.

I used to believe that Joaquin Phoenix's first name was pronounced "Joe-uh-quin" how weird, huh?

When I was 5, my Aunty that I didn't know too well came back from a trip to Japan. She bought me a geisha doll, and my mum told me "This is from Japan".
From the day for about two years, I called her Aunty Japan.

when my daughter was 3 she wanted to learn to spell her name. i told her it was spelled "M-O-N-K-E-Y"... about a year later, she wanted to learn to write it out... i had to 'fess up on that.

When I very little my parents used to call me Aja (Asia) the pill because i always bugged them. On my first day of Pre-school we did the name game where you go around the circle and tell everyone your name, and yes as you can guess i thought my name was really Aja the pill. My mom was so embarassed when the teacher confronted her.

I used to believe that the name of the painting 'American Gothic' was 'Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.' I don't know why.
