When I was little, I thought the hymn that goes, "Hosanna in the highest heaven...' meant someone called Hosanna (because the name is like Rosanna) was a woman in heaven who is like an agony aunt who when you go to confession helps you sort out your problems!

When i was little, from the time i was 2 till about 4, i actually thought that Heaven was on top of the hill in front of my house! i thought that if the clouds would move i could see God. Even though i know better, i still like to picture God sitting up there watching me on rivermont road!
I used to believe, if a colored a picture for god and I tried real hard to hand it to Him, he would reach out and take it! I was really little, before kindergarten!

when i was in junior school (in the uk - 7 to 11) we used to sing hymns every morning, and this one hymn drove me mad, everyone else *loved* it, but i'm partailly deaf so i couldn't always work out what was being sung, infact i was given some of the hymns on paper so i could sing along. but this one i wasn't given, so i had no idea what was being sung, and the fact that everyone loved it so much annoyed me even more... it was the hymn that goes "hand me down my silver trumpet lord" - i used to think it was "garbrielle my silver trophic lord" and i was like "what the HELL is a silver trophic lord?!"
I used to think that since God was in charge and watching us all, at all times. That he moved us around like dolls in a doll house, that was my visualization till about 8yrs of age.
Also thought that you couldn't laugh, smile or clap in church.

When I was little, my mom told me the story about "Daniel and the Lion's Pit."
Daniel was thrown into a pit of lions because of the way he worshiped, but Jehovah God came and shut the mouth of the lions and he was saved. Well, I did not know what a "lion's pit" was, so I substituted the next best thing I knew -- Lion Spit. I thought the danger was that he would drown in all that spit. But when their mouths were shut, they would stop drooling and it would be ok. I think my mom actually slurred the words a little after she heard me retelling the story, just to keep the illusion alive.
The same sort of logic led me to believe the Israelites ate WHALES in the desert. They were complaining about the lack of meat and so a stiff breeze blew from the sea, and all these whales landed in the area where they were. I did wonder if anyone was crushed by the falling whales... As it turns out, they were Quails (small birds -- avg 18cm long). I sure learned a LOT after I learned how to read for myself!

Once when I was little I heard my dad say "God dammit!" So I thought Dammit was a person and he and God were friends.

When I was much younger, my vision of Allah, or God, was like the scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz. I still can't help but imagine that when I die, I'm going to be in the cornfield of the sky.
I used to think that rosaries were like little radios so when you pray, your prayer would be picked up by
the steeple (which also has a cross) and then the prayer would be broadcasted
to heaven.

In the Catholic mass, there is a part where the priest or soloist sings: "hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest, blessed is he...etc. etc."
I used to think they were singing "Lasagna in the highest". We are solidly Irish, but there are a lot of Italians married in, and I fondly remember many St'Joseph's feasts at the parish hall as far back as I can remember. If you don't know what St. Joseph's feast is, then you certainly have not spent much quality time around Italians.
I told my father about the belief many times, and he does not believe me to this day.

the words in "silent night" are "'round [as in around] yon virgin." i thought they were "round young virgin," because she was fat! i sang it that way for many years, and sometimes still do when i forget myself.

When my school sang 'We Three Kings' in our Nativity play I thought the first line was 'We Three Kings of Ori and Tar' and thought that Ori and Tar were countries, and spent hours searching for them on my globe...

One Easter Sunday, when my little brother was young, we went to Mass. At the point where we sing Amen, my brother wanted to participate. He started singing at the top of his lungs "Goblin, Goblin, Goblin!"

When my brother was in first grade, he was getting ready to attend his first CCD class. My mom wanted to make sure he knew some basics before he left so she asked him if he knew how to do the sign of the cross. He then put his two fingers up in a cross shape!!!

When I was younger, I used to believe that when you die, your whole body would go to heaven. So I always thought that you could just look outside and see someones body floating up towards heaven!

In the Christmas song silent night, the part that says, "'Round young Virgin..." I used to think that it was, "Round Jonh Virgin." So in Sunday School one morning when the teacher asked us to draw a poicture that rlates to the song I drew a little round man.
