When I was a child, I had a little debbie oatmeal pie every day as I watched Sesame Street and Mister Rogers. After Mister Rogers, it was time for my nap. As I lay in my Aunt's bed trying to sleep I used to pray that Jesus would show himself to me so that I could REALLY believe in him. He never did, but I can still envision him the way I wanted to see him, standing at the foot of the bed.

We Catholics do the sign of the cross often to begin and end a prayer. When I was little I thought the sign of the cross was God's phone number. I couldn't figure out why we had to dial Him up when the prayer was finished.

When I was young, in our Anglican church we had a priest from Australia. I honestly thought that he said the word "ply" instead of "pray" in his sermons! I asked Mother if he was talking about plywood! She said, "no, he said pray!"

As a toddler hearing about Jesus comming into my heart made me a little curious but happy because I (even then) had a passion for Jesus. I believed that a little man (of how I pictured Jesus) would actually live in my heart

i was brought up a roman catholic and so i worshipped god. but this made me believe that anyone who was not a catholic actually worshipped the devil.
I was about 5; I had to go to church (my dad was a CofE vicar at the time) and I had this belief I knew God's real name.
It was 'Peter'
How did I know this? Well in church people chanted the words "Thanks Peter God" rather a lot...
i used to believe that part of Christ's greatness was the fact that he managed to accomplish so much all in the space of 4 months - between when he was born on Christmas and Easter, when he died.
I have no earthly idea why I believed this but when I was a very small child and my parents first started taking me with them to mass, I didn't know the priest was a real person. I thought he was a robot.
I used to believe that after the offering was taken at church, the priest would put the basket of money on the altar and leave for the night. Then God would reach down with his huge hand and take the money at night when the church was empty.

As a young schoolboy of 6 I remember christmas assemblies at school. I really believed that that favourite christmas hymn 'We three Kings of orient are' actually whent like this, "We three Kings of orient are, one in a taxi, one in a car, one on a scooter beeping his hooter smoking a big cigar." Imagine my surprise when i changed to another school that had an overhead projector, and saw the real words for the first time in a christmas hymn service.... i was ten before i realised i had been singing the wrong words for most of my early school life.
I used to think that god looked like King Rollo (off UK kids TV) in fact whenever the subject of God comes up I still picture a cartoon king with black hair and beard, red gowns and a big gold crown

I though that the words to the hymn 'Sing Hosanna' were 'Sing Lasagna' - my verion was much tastier!

Raised a Baptist, I was taught to believe in Jesus' imminent return. Accordingly, I often would gaze at the sky in hope of seeing Him descend in glory from the clouds--an event I avidly awaited, as I was anxious not only to enter bliss eternal and to meet Jesus and Jehovah but to meet Jim Henson, the creator of the Muppets, who was my hero at the time.

Digging tunnels in the dirt in the play-yard of the daycare center in which I was imprisoned while my parents worked, I feared briefly that I may dig too deeply and reach Hell and thereby loose Satan upon the Earth's surface.

Soon after my paternal grandmother died, I entered puberty and discovered the shameful joys of auto-eroticism. For a long while afterward, I agonized over whether my grandmother, from her seat in Heaven, gazed disapprovingly upon my carnal transgressions.

I used to think my priest was a bit foolish for never having noticed that Dog is God written backwards
I used to belive, that when I was a "bad" girl,God would make an x on my page,in the big book, where he wrote when everyone had done something bad.If you had too much x's,you couldn't come to heaven. So then you had to go to hell. You may guess now, that I was of course a very, good girl..sometimes ;oP

My sister told me that the Holy Spirit was just some guy that turned himself into a dove. Yeah... that was really embarrassing when my religion teacher asked us who the Holy Spirit was and I responded with that question. I was sure I was right! Thanks sis!

In 1st grade, my teacher told us to draw a scene from the Bible. I drew Adam, Eve and the serpent prior to the Fall from grace, and I gave the serpent legs. "Why does the serpent have legs?" my teacher asked. "Well," I answered, "as a punishment for making Eve eat from the apple, God told it "upon thy belly shalt thou go", which means that prior to man's fall the serpent did not crawl but walk."
