In our Church, children are baptized at the age of 8. When the time came for my brother, four years older than me, to be baptized, I was terrified for him, because I thought it involved being put into a ring with a wild bull.

Through a mental confusion of the Catholic ritual of Ash Wednesday and the bit about "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust," as a kid I thought that the first time the priest smeared those ashes on my forehead, I was gonna die.
I used to believe that we were singing "Rosanna in the highest" in church, instead of "Hosanah" and I wondered for many years why I hadn't heard of Rosanna anywhere else.

when i was little (although this continued to a surprisingly late age) i believed that jesus was born on dec. 25 and died on easter OF THE SAME YEAR. it made sense because no one ever talks about when jesus was a little boy. but i could never work out how he grew up so fast, but i figured it must be because he was magic and stuff.

When I weas young I thought thet when people went to heaven they were put on conveyor belts, and one by one they got to chat a little with God, and then they walked around and drank coffee in the clouds forever.
I was around 6 or 7 and When we went to Church, I thought my folks were genuises because they never needed to use the hymnals to sing,,,yet, they mysteriously seemed to know all the words to every hymn.

When we went to Catholic mass when I was about 8 or 9 years old we always used to sit on the front bench. At that time we weren't 'confirmed' and so didn't go up for holy communion but we listened in on those who were. The priest at our church was an old Irish guy who'd obviously said the words so often that they merged together so for years I thought that when he put the 'host' on your tongue he said 'puddy-pram' to you. A couple of years later I learned that he actuallly said 'body of christ'.

When Christmas came around my family always went to the Carols by Candlelight. My sister when she was eight always used to sing the line from Silent Night "round yon virnigen, mother and child" - we still remind here every year and she still hasn't lived it down as she used to sing at the top of her lungs!
I remember I got told in church that were all part of God's family. I spent years believing my best friends and the other kids at school were really my brothers and sisters.

I used to believe that I could kill the devil by pounding nails into the ground in my back yard. Needless to say, it did not work <lol>. If it did, my hubby would be out of a job (he is a pastor!!!)

In my childhood, I was made to believe by my certain friends, that if I rub the middle of my forehead with a pebble, I will be able to see God; I did so and the mark of the wound thus made is still there, making me remember God always.

After hearing the story of Jesus turning the few pieces of fish and bread into thousands, I was convinved this is what people ate in heaven. I hate fish, so for several years I told my mom I didn't want to go to heaven because I would have to eat fish.
