I used to think that in the Catholic blessing that my mom says at dinnertime, she was thanking God for giving us the food "from thy bound teeth," and couldn't make any sense of it for years. I still think it sounds like that. (It's "from thy bounty," for those of you who aren't familiar with it.)

I used to wonder why we all wanted to go to heaven to just play a harp. That sounded boring. But, I wasn't supposed to like Hell either.

I used to believe that Jesus and his disciples must have had very smelly feet... because the Bible always talked about how they had their feet washed when they went into people's houses.

I used to believe when jesus was crucified it meant he was dunked in smelly oils and flowers. And that he went to hell for 3 days because the devil wanted to eat him, and he tasted bad because of the oils, so on the third day he rose again. and when he assended into heaven i thought God's hand reached down and picked him up

On his first airplane ride, from 20,000 feet above the clouds, my nine-year-old brother looked out the window intently, then asked my mother if we could see God from there.

As a child I believed that when we went to heaven God would turn us into a dog. My sister however shattered this dream and told me that He wouldn't and so I spent the rest of that day crying behind the living room chair. Now, at 20, I'm a devout atheist. Coincidence?
I used to believe priests were God. Then one day I saw their feet when one of them wore a robe that was a little too small. I reasoned somehow that God can't have feet, and so priests weren't God.
I hated church. My uncle had me (and my cousins) to believe that, on Easter day, the Easter Bunnies leave chocolate and sweets all over the garden, just for us kids, if we were good and if we went to church regularly, and especially on Easter day. If we didn't go to church on that day, they would be so scared of being seen flying around (yes, they flew high in the sky on that day) they would left nothing for us.
After my parents told me Santa was dead, to spare me the pain that he never existed, I had my doubts about the existence of flying bunnies leaving chocolate presents in our garden.
I eventually found the chocolates, carefuly hidden in a wardrobe, and put them all under my bed. Then I watched the adults looking for those chocolates the rest of that day. My brother and my cousins never forgave me.
I thought the bible was an old bloke that worked at Ebenezer Methodist Church (like the caretaker), who kept saying wise things that were then relayed to us by our Sunday School teachers.
