I used to believe…

Growing up a catholic, when I was 7 years old, it was time for my First Communion.

On this occasion all the kids of my age went to a special mass and they get to drink some diluted sacramental wine for the fist time.

We kids were standing in front of the altar, I was the farthest on the right. The priest gave the goblet to the kid at the left, everone drank a bit and passed it on. When it was my turn it was already empty.

As I didn't get to drink, I was afraid this would render the whole initiation invalid, and that with this formal error in my First Communion, I might be turned down at heaven's gate.

My Grandma use to tell me that when it was thundering that Jesus was bowling and got a strike. She also told me that when it was raining out that she Jesus was sad today.

i used to belive that when it rained god was peeing and when it thundered he was farting!!!

I used to believe in God, the Bible, Jesus and Christianity. Not only believe but I used to tell other people about Jesus. Then I thought about it...I thought about how God created everything, and how he knows everything that will happen before it actually does. Then I realized that if there is a God that he created Hitler knowing what he'd do to all those innocent Jews before he was even born.
Considering this, I no longer believe that there is a God. I now believe that we are born, we live, and we die...and that's all there is to it.

When I was around 9 years old on a Sunday morning my older brother and I was watching a sermon on TV. The pastor told the congregation to turn to II (second) Corinthians. My brother said it was 11 (eleven) Corinthians and stuck to his guns. My dad is a minister so I asked him, why it was called eleven Corinthians he said where in the world I got that information. My brother got his butt spanked. People don't play with the bible.

That nuns had no feet. I lived next door to a convent and as a 4 or 5 year old, when they walked by my house in their flowing black habits, they all seemed to be floating past, not walking like other people did.

I used to believe…

When I was little, my mom and my Sunday School teachers always told me that Jesus was in my heart and in everyone else's. One day I asked my mom how they separated Him into such tiny pieces in order to get a part of Him inside every single person in the world. She looked at me like I was insane before clearing up the confusion. :-P

I used to believe God had a bag of sugar like substance and sprinkled it on Earth.

I used to believe the angels were in the speakers at church because of the loud female voice singing.

I used to believe…

We live in the city and when my son was about 7, the sirens around the city went off for their monthly tests to make sure they were all working. "This is a test of the severe weather alert...this is just a test", well my son was outside playing when it went off and ran inside the house and told me and my husband that "God was talking outside", it was the cutest thing ever.

I used to believe…

As a little kid I had a book called "Bad Nose Bill" and for some reason I thought that God looked like him (you can find pictures on Google image search). To this day when I picture God in human form I tend to automatically picture him with a wide-brimmed hat
