When I was a child I used to believe that The God was one of the clouds in the sky so every time I looked up at the sky I tried to identify which one He was

i used to believe that when you died you would have to climb up a ladder and then God would be standing there with a massive clipboard - and on it were all the good things and bad things you'd done. i thought that santa went to God and had a discussion about whether i was on the good list or the naughty list. i used to worry so much about this... :)

I used to think Santa Clause was the Holy Spirit. I always heard more about the Holy Spirit around Christmas and you couldn't see spirits or Santa. I found out later in life that a friend of mine also had that same belief!

I used to believe…

The Baptist church I grew up in would often refer to "the church family" -- "the flowers today were provided by the church family," "Saturday's picnic will be hosted by the church family," etc. I thought for the longest time that the church family was the nice Cambodian family we sponsored who always sat in the front pew, and I was impressed by all they were constantly doing to give back to the community. It wasn't till years later that I discovered the "church family" actually meant the congregation as a whole!

I used to believe…

As a kid I was told that 'Jesus is greater than all of us'.. So I went home and asked my mom if Jesus really was bigger than George (this really tall man in our neighborhood)

I wasn't raised religious, so when I learned about prayer used to believe you could pray to anyone you liked, like a sort of magic telephone.

I spent all summer one year praying to my friend two streets away, then getting angry when I saw her and she hadn't got my prayer messages, and accused her of ignoring me on purpose.

When we were about 9, my friend and I used to think our neighborhood was haunted so we tried talking to the ghosts and performing exorcisms.

When I was very little, I believed that God was an artist named Howard. "Our Father, who does art in Heaven, Howard be thy name..." I also believed that Mary had grapes inside of her. "Hail, Mary, full of grapes..." I rationalized that one because it said, "the FRUIT of thy womb, Jesus."

I used to believe if a person raised their hands during the worship service at church, God would reach down and bring them up to heaven.

I used to believe that when you are good, god loves you and gives as an exchange to you a better life, I use to believe that u shouldn't judge people, that u should treat everyone as equal, because the only one who can judge them and say what is wrong and what is right is god. I still believe these things, i still believe in the innocents i have and i wish everyone could think with this way..

I used to believe…

At my Catholic school I was often told that Jesus was always present in the Church. I believed that the actual body of Jesus was kept in the altar. I thought one church kept it for a while then sent it to another church.

I used to believe that Satan was a snake that lived in the crack between my wall and my bed! If I didn't face the crack, he would come get me. To this day I'm still more comfortable sleeping on my left side!

I used to believe…

when I was little I was told that God sees evreything you do and hears everthing you say so you better be a good girl. And I can remember one night when my mother was giving me a bath and I asked if God can see me naked and she said no I am sure he turns his head. well she had a hard time getting me to believe that so I would get her to put the shower curtain around us while she bathed me and I would make her give me a towel before I would get out form behind the curtain.I was never worried about being seen misbehaving.

I used to believe that when people die, they turn into a star.

I used to believe…

As I child my mom would always take my to the catholic church to a confession booth so that god can forgive my sins. At one point of the confession the priest puts his hand before the person confessing and I always wondered why.

When I got out of the booth I asked my older brother why and he thought It would be funny to say, "You are suppose to high five him!"

So for many years I believed that I was suppose to high five the priest. I'm 17 now and I just realized I wasn't suppose to..

I used to believe that the Pope lived in an aeroplane. Because whenever you saw him on TV he was getting out of an aeroplane. I even drew a picture of the aeroplane in my First Communion book under the heading "where the Pope lives" and none of the nuns at school bothered to correct me.

I used to believe…

One time I asked my mom who Jesus was, and she said "He was a good man". To me a "good man" was someone who wore a business suit and carried a briefcase, so that's how I pictured Jesus for a long time.
