when i was very little, my dad took me to hear bells being played at one of the local churches. on the way home we were saying "God bless Mom", "God bless Dad", etc. Finally my dad asked, "what do you think happens when we say God Bless?" In all seriuosness i replied, "they sneezed."
I surprised my Mam once when I was about 4 by explaining to her in all seriousness:
"When they die, very good people go to Heaven, and very bad people go to Hull."
This only makes sense if you live in the UK, though. ;o)

when I was in the fourth grade a nun told us in the class a story about a man who wrote the name Mary on his pillow every night with his finger.when he died he went to heaven and confronted St Peter at the front gates of heaven where he was told that he was'nt good enough on earth to be let into heaven. As he sadly walked away the Virgin Mary called to him and snuck him in the back door.I am 62 years of age and have not went to sleep without writing Mary on my pillow since I was told that story in the fourth grade.(ps hope it works)
I could read at an early age and during Christmas we were singing "It came upon the Midnight Clear". For the longest time I thought the line went "the world in SOLOMON stillness lays" and for some reason Kins Solomon had something to do with the Nativity. My mom realized what I was singing and stifling a giggle informed me the "n" was silent!

A friend of mine recently told me of her first church experience:
When everything was over the pastor was walking around talking to the people and he came upon Anna, who was at the time very young. He found out that it was her first ever time to church.
Pastor: How did you like the service?
Anna: The music was nice, but the commercials were too long.

Until high school, I thought that Calvinism was named for Calvin Coolidge. Not an entirely ridiculous confusion, since both were associated with a work ethic.
I'll never forget one night at dinner when my mom's parents were visiting. We said the Our Father as our Grace, and then, right as my grandfather took a bite of his steak, my little brother asked, "Granddad, are you God?"
See, my grandfather's name is Howard, and my brother thought the prayer went "Our Father, who art in heaven, Howard be thy name...."
We still laugh over that night.
I used to believe that Darth Maul lived in my church.

I used to believe god lived on one side of the sky and the devil lived on the other. I also believed that they would have wars with each other. God spearing lighting bolts and the devil spearing red tridents.
I also believed that when you die, you get put on a cloud to find your own way to heaven or hell.

WHen i was in third grade we were eating lunch at my public school and one girl went, "Catholics are trying to take over the world! i know because my dad told me!" I, being Catholic, told her that "it wasnt true and i would know because im Catholic"

sometimes a friend will say they're Christian and ill go, "Me too" and they're like, "i thought you were Catholic" and im like, "Catholics are Christians" and i have to explain to them all about Catholics and Protestents.
Its surprising to hear everyone's beliefs about Catholisism
I was in church in first of second grade when the priest talked about "Blessed Mary, ever virgin". I immediately turned to my mother and asked "Mom, whats a virgin?"
My mom answered without embarassment or hesitation "Its a person who hans't had children".

When I was little, I had a long rope that was buried in my backyard, my brother and I could never pull it out no matter how hard we pulled. I remember thinking that Satin lived there and it was hell, I wanted so bad to pull satin out and just...I don't know what I wanted to do but I wanted to pull him out.

When I saw those sunbeams that sometimes come from clouds, I used to think that it was Jesus coming back to take all the Christians up to heaven.
I remember that I had a vivid image in my head that God looked like the cartoon version of Inspector Clousaeu from the animated Pink Panther T.V. program, except that he wore a bowler hat and suit and not a brown mac.
I remember when I was young that I believed people ascended to Heaven in a bucket and also that Heaven resided at the top of a tall hill that was located behind my grandma's house....

When I was little at church we could say bible verses in front of everyone for a quarter. I always used to say the shortest verse, "Jesus Wept." It wasn't until I was about 13 or 14, I asked my mom what that meant. She gave me a funny look. The entire time I thought the verse was "Jesus Webbed" !
