I used to believe it was the father, the SUN, and the holy spirit. I had no idea why we'd be praying to the sun since it was just...well I didn't exactly know what the sun was then either but I knew it had nothing to do with Catholicism...I was very confused for a while . . . up into the 7th grade actually . . . I'm slow, I admit it . . .

Before the recitation of the Lord's Prayer, the priest would say 'We will now say the prayer that Jesus taught us'. I knew the prayer, but couldn't remember having learnt it; thus I assumed that it was implanted in our minds by Jesus before birth.

There's a line in the Hail Mary prayer that goes "blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus." But when I was little, I thought it was "blessed is the fruit of thy ROOM, Jesus." I was a bit confused as to what the bowl of fruit Mary kept in her room had to do with anything.

Until I was 35, I thought "from thy bounty" in the "grace" prayer was "from thy bam teeth". Tought it was some Olde English thing. The Wife has corrected me, after laughing about it.Still get a sly smile and look from her from time to time when ever some says "Grace".

I used to pray, "Hell Mary full of grace." and "Our father who are in Heaven, how will be thy name?" and "Give us, to say, our daily bread."..

When I was little I thought that at the end of a prayer my mom would say "And Jesus name my prayers" (She was actually saying "In Jesus name I pray") so I thought that Jesus gave each prayer a title when we finished. Every night I tried to say something extra interesting so he wouldn't have a hard time coming up with a good title.

I used to think that 'Grace' at the table went: Gone is Great! Gone is Good! Let us spank him for our food. Amen...

As a child, I heard of the famous question from HIndu philosophy,"Who shall here declare it?", I thought they were saying "Who shall hear the claret?" My answer, I thought was "No one -- claret makes no sound."

When my sister was little and we would have to say the Lord's prayer in church, she would say "Our Father who art in heaven, Al would be his name" instead of "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be his name".

I went to a Catholic school, even though I was Presbyterian, and one of the boys in my class asked why I didn't do the Sign of the Cross when we said prayer. I said 'I don't believe in that part,' and before I could finish he stood up on a desk and shrieked 'MARY DOESN'T LIKE JESUS!'.

From then on, I did the Sign of the Cross anyway.

I used to believe that when you prayed and your hands where folded together or touching, that was the only way God would hear you, even if you were just thinking. Still to this day if my hands touching and Im thinking bad or naughty things I have to unfold them because I feel like God can hear me.

I used to think that the God was called Harold. Whilst saying the Lord's Prayer at school I used to say 'Harold by thy name' as apposed to 'hallowed be they name'.

When I was little, I heard the commandment "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house". At the time, I was under the impression that a "neighbor" was only limited to next door. Imagine my surprise when my next-door neighbors had their house bug-bombed and it had a large cloth cover over it -- I thought the commandment said "Thou shalt not COVER thy neighbor's house"!

When I was a child (up untill about age 12) when we would say the blessing at the dinner table, the prayer would go "let us thank him for our food", i always thought that it went "lettus thank us for this food", it made sense to me, since we were eating, and it said "lettus"

During the early 1980's I attended a Catholic pre-school. We would always say the "God is Great" prayer before eating lunch. When we reached the part of the prayer thanking God for "gift's so great", I was sure Sister was saying "thank you God for disco great"! Move over John Travolta!

when I was in second grade we use to say the Lords Prayer..The Lord is my shepard, I shall not want. I thought it meant I shouldn't want Him... I couldn't understand why we prayed to Him but rejected Him all at the same time.. That was 35 years ago ..funny what you remember.

I used to think that if I wanted something, I just had to pray to God for it. For awhile every night I'd sit and make a list of what I wanted asking God to give me this and that on my bed the next morning. I'd go to bed happy and excited, only to be disappointed when I woke up, seeing nothing was there.
