I used to believe…

When I took home the infant simulator that my child development class had me do for a project, I took it to a grocery store. A little girl saw it and asked me if my baby had plastic surgery!

A science teacher I had in 7th grade actually stated that broccoli is actually miniature trees. Even at 13 yrs old I knew he was full of it!

I used to think all my teachers slept at school. My father and mother had told me that the teachers loved their job so much it's like the never leave the school. Naturally being five years old I believed that.... also after my brother told me my kindergarten teacher was an alien... I was sure the school was a spaceship.... so I would kick and scream and beg not to go to school because "Mrs. Newsome is going to eat my face!!" then I learned that my Aunt was teacher and she set me straight she told me that A.My teacher wasn't an alien B. teachers have families (I replied with "So do they live in the school with her?") and C. the teachers have homes outside of school. I still think my kindergarten teacher is an alien... I blame my mother for watching SciFi channel while she was pregnant with me :p

I used to believe…

In elementary school, I believed that teachers knew absolutely everything. That they could answer any question ever put to them. Now I know they are normal human beings and some of them don't know much at all.

I used to believe…

substitute teachers....I had many strange beliefs about these odd people. The first time I heard of a substiture teacher I was about 5/6, and was told I'd be having one for a while. I thought that substitute teachers were robots, and found it amazing that my substitute teacher looked so normal. I then came to think that the substitute teacher was simply too normal to be a robot. So decided that instead it was a sort of clone of a real teacher. I believed that when people were made into teachers they had to have a clone of themselves made, so that there would always be enough substitue teachers. I somehow learnt that this wasn't true though. I then thought that they all lived together in a big house or factory type place miles and miles away..and they had to stay there all the time, just waiting around for a real teacher to phone up and say they were sick so a substitute would have to come in

I used to think Snow Days were holidays that the principal created, and on that day you were religiously obligated to play in the snow or else you would go to Hell.
My principal was really scary.

I teach year 3 in a primary school.I also recently got engaged. A teacher who works with me made a throw away comment about james bond, the children mis-heard and now believe I am marrying James Bond. They have even asked me "is it the old one or that one in the film?"

I have always been terrified of injections and in primary school I never took my sweater off because of the fear that the school nurse could come any time and give me one and I thought the sweater would protect my arms.

I believed, really believed, that when we were taught something in school for the first time, it was something that had just been discovered, and we were the first to be told.

I once worried myself sick after a first-school lesson that we'd have some terrible ice-related incident because no-one but my class knew that when water freezes, it expands.

When I was in kindergaten I saw a commercial (I think I misunderstud it) and it was a girl that said she had a child in second grade. I was terrified to go into second grade. Then when i finished second grade I was so relived that I didnt have a baby.

I used to believe there was no high school and when it was about the end of the eighth grade for my bro i started crying and saying "Georgey's leaving!" There was an awkward silence and then my parents and my bro started laughing and asked "Where is he going?" and i said "He's going to college!" and they said "No, he's not, he's just going to another school called high school." I said "Oh" and i went in my room so embarrassed.

Last year I taught in a middle school where there was a running club (they also had a track team, but this was in the "off season") with about 50 kids. Their coach told the students that a mountain goat could run faster than a cheetah and I was asked the very next day (and several more days after that) if this were true. The coach had to go on the morning announcements a week later to tell the students it was a joke and that a mountain goat couldn't run faster than a cheetah. Some of the kids think she was pressured into telling them that.

I teach middle school and one of my seventh graders asked me if teachers had eyes in the back of their heads. I said no and asked her why she believed that and she told me that her second grade teacher said that and she's believed her since then.

When I was in kindergarden my teacher said raise your hand if you need to speek. So I didn't know that meant like a question or something like that. So I was really bored and I needed to talk. So I raised my hand and when the teacher called on me to speek, I said Baboom Boom lala fafa fefe so me do. My teacher still recalls that I have a BIG problem.

I believed that teachers never left their classrooms. I belived the teachers room had pull out beds and they had actual food in the cafeterias that the teachers ate. I thought that there were secret buttons in the bathrooms that unveiled showers when you pressed it. I was wierd. I also believed that if you wanted to be a cafeteria cook, you had to take special classes on the art of ruining food. I brought from home, mind you.

I used to believe…

When I was in preschool, my teacher would always ask everyone "Did you bring Show and Tell?" In my preschooler head, I pictured Show and Tell as two twin girls, and would always say no because I couldn't fathom how everyone could bring the same two people to school especially if they weren't already in my class!
