In Kindergarten, one of the teachers at my school died in a car accident. This happened around the same time as the Challenger Disaster, and it wasn't until my teens that I realized the teacher that died in the shuttle was not from my school.

When I started junior high, I thought we were going to the gym for fisette class. I didn't understand why they didn't call it gym like they did in junior high. It wasn't until I got my first report card that I saw the class was phys. ed.

My mom said she thought the class where they talked about recent history was kerny vents.

When I was in preschool I used to think all of my teachers were robots. I couldn't understand how they never went to the bathroom when I was constantly raising my hand asking to go pee. I always watched them very closely during nap time. All the teachers would gather around and talk. I was certain that if I could just get a good look at the back of their heads I would be able to see an on/off switch to confirm my suspicions.

I used to believe…

in the fifth grade, we were evacuated from the school because of a fire near one of the transformers right outside the gym. watching from the opposite end of the playground, we were all hysterical because we thought that if the fire reached the transformer, it would explode and the fire would jump down to the ground and follow our footsteps wherever we went.

When I was at primary school I remember being told that we were going to have a fire drill. Never heard of that I thought. After we had all evacuated the school and lined up by the playing fields I remeber becoming very upset and crying becasue I belived that we would have to jump onto the grass, spinning very fast and and drill into the ground to escape the fire. I sat down and cried but didn't believe the teachers when they tried to explain that we just had to line up and be counted.

When I started elementary school, I was taken out of class by a woman who tested my math and reading skills. I never knew that I was being tested because I excelled in these subjects. When I realized that this woman was the special educator, I was dumbfounded. How could I have a mental, physical or emotional disorder without noticing. I concluded that I was mentally handicapped, which led to all of the individual testing, and my friends and family didn't want to hurt my feelings by telling me. It wasn't until a few years later, when I went up a grade for math classes, that I realized I was not mentally disabled.

After a long time of begging my mother to teach me to read and after being told endlessly that I'd learn in school, the first day of kindergarten finally arrived. I was sorely disappointed in the games we played. I cried hysterically when she picked me up from school. I soon adjusted and gave up my passion for learning. It didn't come back until I was finished with high school.

I thought all the teachers slept at school.

I used to believe…

a friend was convinced that his school was an asylum, and couldn't be convinced otherwise

I've always possessed a sharp memory, even of certain events from when I was 2 years old.

Back when I was 3 I remember hearing a conversation between two staff members.at my pre-school.

There was a guy who had been working there who suddenly was gone and one of them said "he'd been "fired".

I remember thinking that he was burned at the stake or something.

Why a 3 year old would have seen a visual depiction of "burning at the stake" is beyond me, but thinking back now when I heard the term "fired" that was always what came to mind.

Back in elementary, I was the only one on my class not to attend religious class. I had ethics class instead.

Once when I came back from my lesson, and found out the religion teacher had taught everyone, that I was a pagan (all they knew, that it was a bad word meaning someone that denied god). Everyone kept calling me that for a long time. An it wasn't nice!

When I was in kindergarten, up until around first or second grade, I used to believe that if I stuck my finger into the pencil sharpener and turned the handle, that it would sharpen my finger and I would have my own pencil attached to my hand. Luckily the holes were a bit small for my finger..... :-\

A house next to my primary school had a large water tank which I was told (and I beleived) held the bodies of chopped up babies. Apparently, the man that lived there would stuff them into the pipe that ran from the house into the tank. I never thought to question why a baby killer would be allowed to live next to a primary school - especially when so many kids seemed to know about it...

When I was in kindergarten our teacher asked each of us what our favorite color was. Whe she came to me I proudly stated that camouflage was my favorite. After an extensive argument my parents were called to come pick me up from school. Camouflage is still my favorite color.

when i was in preschool, i was told that when you stuck up your middle finger at someone, you were asking God to kill you.

When I was in primary school there was this teacher called Mr S. Everyone said that when you were in his class and you were bad, he'd hang you up on the coat-hook on the back of his door. He did threaten to 'hang us from on high' a couple of times, so it was partly his own fault we believed this.

i dont really know why this happened, cos the teacher was seemed pretty normal before this occured. i said to my friend at primary school "i have a bun", he ran off and said to the teacher that i said "bum" and she gave me a lecture. i was 7.
