In our school nativity play, the teacher shouted out 'choir!' when we had to sing Silent Night, but I thought she said 'quiet!', so everyone looked at me when they were singing, and I didn't join in! Talk about heavenly peace!

When I first started elementary school, I remember thinking that when kids went to the nurse she took their temperatures rectally because that was the only way my mom ever did it at home. When I got sick I opened my whole mouth. I didn’t get the “under the tongue” thing.

In school one day, second grade?, the teacher asked the students what nationality we were. The kids went around saying the usual various countries then it came my turn. I said, "I'm Cescarian." My last name being Cappucci, the teacher asked, "Do you mean Sicilian?" to which I replied, "No, Cescarian! That's what my mother always tells me."

When I was in about 1st or 2nd grade, I used to think that school went on forever. I had a lot of cousins and they all talked about being in such high grades like 10th or 11th (which I'm currently in). I actually remember having a conversation with one of my friends at the time that school would go on until 1 millionth grade!

I went to a back to school nite w/ my parents for my big sis, I wasn't in school yet. The grades went from K-8th, but the 8th grade was in a seperate closed off hall. My dad told me the hall was where they kept the spanking machine, so I worried about going to 8th grade for a long time, because other students weren't alllowed down that hall, so I couldn't find out!

I was 4, so this was before I went to school. I had watched some court show with my mom and I believed that school was just like a court room with the judge being the teacher and all that stuff. GOD DAMN JUDGE JUDY!!!

Up until I was actually in 1st grade I thought 1st graders and above only did homework all day with red lights instead of regular ones and the teachers would watch over you like a hawk.

My junior school had 4 classes in a year group. When I first went to that school, I thought I would get a chance to be in every 4 class then go to the next year. When I was in 1st grade I actually told my teacher she got the list wrong when I found out I was going to be in 2nd grade the following fall. "Miss, shouldn't I be in the other 1st grade class?"

Once I was crying because I was worried about taking a test. Mom asked, "Did you study for it?"
"Yes"
"Did you pray about it?"
"I can't pray about it, that's cheating!"

Back when my sister was the age to start preparing for college, I heard her and her friends speaking of "taking college boards". At first I thought that meant that some wooden parts of college buildings would be missing from some strange ritual where prospective college students went and stole them.

Once my mother came to pick me up from school, one of my friends told her I was in the weight room and that she would go get me. It wasn't until I graduated high school that I found out my mother thought there was a room at school where kids go to "wait" for their parents to pick them up.

I once randomly thought out loud that school days were 14 hours long, only to find out that it's actually 6. No idea why.

On the morning of my first day of kindergarten, I proudly assured my mother that I would be able to read when I got home that day. I just assumed that your first day in school meant that you were than capable of reading anything.

I was utterly crushed when I found out this wasn't so.

I used to believe that my 'baby' school that I attended from the age of four and a half, was built from pieces of a ship. The thing is all my friends thought the same as me. Where we picked up this strange fact is beyond me, just goes to show when you are a gullible 5 year old....you'll believe anything!
