I used to believe that electricity was these little soldiers on horses charging in a straight line out of the socket. I knew I shouldn't get close or touch a electric socket and I thought if I did these guys would come out and hurt me.

I used to believe that if you were in a lift and it failed and started to plummet to the ground, then all you had to do was just before it hit the ground floor was to jump and you would be okay, cos you'd only jumped a little off the floor of the lift.
when i was about 11 or 12 years old, i tried to call a friend but accidentally dialled the wrong number. and instead got a very strange tone i've never heard before. i figured i've stumbled onto some kind of alternate dimension or secret military line, and would periodically call that number to see if the tones change... but it was always the same. it wasn't till much later that i learnt it was a fax line.
I USED TO THINK THAT FAX'S WENT UNDER THE GROUND IN TUNNELS AND OUT THE OTHER SIDE - untill i was about 16 and a mate told me the truth - THE SHAME!
When I was 7/8 (can't remember!) I went to my dad's office and saw his employee's paper shredder that had a reverse button on it (in case of a paper jam) and I said, out loud, "Oh, that's a good idea, so if you shred the wrong thing, you can have it restored!" OOPS! I was so embarrassed!

I used to believe that if you had this really big sheet of paper, and if a jet airplane flew through it fast enough, it wouldn't hurt the paper.
When I was a child i used to believe you had to say 'cheese' to any camera type thing including the video camera. So the camera would face to me and I would say cheese for 5 minutes until I ran out of breath.

I used to believe that when my parents were recording anything on TV, I had to be quiet around the VCR because any sound I make would also be recorded onto it.

I used to believe you could edit a webpage in IE by highlighting and typing in the new text.
When I was 4, I thought there was a reason for all superstitions. I thought the reason why people didn't step on cracks was because I knew the Earth was round, and so if you tripped on the crack you'd fall off the Earth. So when I was in Disneyland, I accidentally tripped on a crack. "MOMMY, HOLD ME! I'M GONNA FALL OFF THE EARTH!" Turns out I didn't fall off the earth. Instead, I got a bruise.
When I was about four, I'd call my Grandmama up every day to tell her how things were invented. Our conversations went like this:
"Grandmama! Guess how the toaster was invented?"
"How?"
"Well, the cavemen went to the city and picked up some rubbish from the streets, like soda cans, juice boxes, and old socks. Then Fred Flintstone melted them all together and made a toaster!!"
I used to believe that if you were standing on an object while you were falling and if you jumped off it before it hit the ground that you would be okay.
For many, many years (even into adulthood), I actually thought that when I called someone and got a busy signal, my call would wait in a "queue" until the other end of the line would become available. Then, one day, I was at work trying to call for limited tickets to an event and I wanted to be the first in line. So, I called and when i got a busy signal, I just kept the phone off the hook, thinking that sooner or later someone would pick up the phone. My co-worker figured out what I was trying to do and clued me in....No wonder!! I had waited for hours all my life to no avail. All I had to do was hang up and try again.
You all know that you cant see the world turn well, when I was real young when I got dizzy I used to think I could see the world turn (becuase it looks likes the room is turning)!!

When I was Younger I used to believe that if I talked into a jar and then covered the top... I could hear myself when I opened the jar
I used to believe that all the specks of dust that you see flying around in the air (like when looking across a beam of light inside your house) was the "air".
When my sister and I were younger we fought a lot (I love her to death now).
I remember how she always liked to play with my mother's make-up and perfume in the bathroom, and she'd spray ALL the different perfumes a lot and make it smell horrible. With only one bathroom to share, that kinda sucked.
One day after she sprayed a whole bunch, I had to pee and found what she was doing. I was annoyed, so I told her that mixing different chemicals can create an explosion. Then I locked her in the bathroom, holding the door from the outside. After I took off, she told on me.
The BEST part about that was that when she told my Dad, he responded something like, "Well, technically you never know what shouldn't be mixed..."
My dad used to tell me there was a midget in the photo booth at the mall and he would work inside the booth to develop the pictures.
We were studying birds (or something) at primary school when one rich kid had a computer (very new thing) and printed out some fact on a particular native species. For quite a few years I thought that he had asked the computer about it and the computer had just given him what it knew, because computers knew everything...
We've sort of come full circle with google...
In my second year at school, we were told that water froze to become ice and that ice could melt to become liquid. I thought that liquid must somehow be different to the water it once was and would be very reluctant to ever drink it.
