I used to think if you clicked on things on the computer (pictures, ect) that it would hurt them, so when I had a cat screensaver, I accidentially clicked it's eye- and promptly started crying, " Oh no- I hurt the kitties eye!"

I used to believe that in fax machines, the person sent the actual piece of paper through a cord! I was always fascinated to think about how that big piece of paper got through that little cord, and how it travelled so far away!
When I was quite young, I desperately wanted my very own swingset. Then it dawned on me: unlearned in simply physics, I believed I could simply get a piece of rope, hold each end in opposite hand, and then while supporting the rope, I could just sit down and swing myself. Unfortunately, as you probably guess, it did not work quite as I had expected.
i used to think that when commercials told u to call 1-800-(name of the company), that the letters on the buttons on the phone dialed a different thing, like each number dials a different thing...anyway, i always wondered how the phone knew which letter people wanted to dial, afterall, there is more than one letter on each button...
I used to believe that when the world turned it went over and under instead of around they way it does, and I thought that when it turned upside down, everyone would fall off. Of course I hadn't realized that if that were to happen, none of us would be here, nor would I have been there then.
When i was the tender age of six, i asked my old man how ATMs and the garage door worked. He told me there was a little guy who lives there and operates the ATM and the door.
When I was twenty-two years old, I heard that A. R. Ammons worked in the biological glass industry. I was fascinated because I thought it meant you could make windows out of bacteria or jellyfish.
I used to belive that making a tv was as easy as cennecting a TV antenna to a wire, connecting a little light bolb at the other end of the wire then putting a peice of glass in front of the light bolb when turned on and, WALLA you would see your favorite TV channel projected behind the glass.

i used to believe lava and water made electricity
It was back in 1994, I was 7 yo and when summer vacation was, every morning I watched educational cartoon for kids. One of episodes explained had does electricity works. I took their explanation of running electrons too literally, and for next few years I believed that when you switch on the trigger on the wall, line of little guys starts running through the inside of wire and gets crashed within the bulb, emiting lot of warm and making light!
When I was a kid I believed there was a little man in the phonograph that made the music.
When I was younger, I didn't realize that when we got a phone call, you could hear it from any of the extensions in our house. I didn't know that they were all one phone line. I thought my parents were phycic or something because they could always tell which phone was ringing and I couldn't!
my little sister has recently admitted to thinking that the beeping noise you hear when u key a number into a telephone, was a bug trapped under the key pads squeeking every time u tried 2 squish it, this explained her never using the telephone when she was younger...
I used to think that there was day only so we could have light at night. See, there must have been this big box inside my wall that would suck up the light during the day. At night, when the light outside went away, the light would stay inside the little box in my wall. When you flipped on the light switch a shutter would open in the box and the light would filter through tubes that went through the wall to the ceiling to the light bulb. When you turned off the switch the shutters would close. That was my theory on electricity and day and night.

Once, I believed that if you put an eraser in the microwave, it'd melt into really cool, gooey rubber. I tried it and nearly blew up the microwave.
I used to think that if a spaceship went through "hyper space", it would take a temporary toll on the crews' brains, thus making then scream, panic, go into hysterics, and slam against things. When hyper space was over, everything was fine.
Hyper space sounded pretty fun.
I used to believe that telephone operators were surgeons who had to answer a few telephones that were stationed around the OR, while simultaneously performing surgery.
I saw a headline in the news paper that read, "Mixing alcohol and gasoline is explosive." So my friend and I got some gas and rubbing alcohol and tried to get it to explode by mixing it together. Luckly we didn't try lighting a match.

I used to think that lbs. stood for a form of measurement called labs. I felt like an idiot when I realized it meant pounds.
