When I was little I thought that Peoples voises got on tapes or CDs by the writing, like if a Tape said Raffi, raffi would automaticly be on there. So I wrote my name on all my tapes. I was very sad when I wasn't on any of them.

When I was 3 or 4 my parents gave me a toy microscope which projected the magnified images on the wall. The microscope had "20000x magnification" written on it. I actually believed it was true...a few years later (around 4th grade) my mum took me to buy a real scope...
I thought they were trying to cheat me, when they showed me a 100x scope, and actually said that the other one I had at home was 20000x!

I used to think telephones ran off gas because when it thundered and the electricity went off the telephone still rang.

My sisters once told me that the Laws of Gravity are all relative, and that the only reason they work is because we are so convinced that they are true. So basically, if you forget about gravity, then you'll float/fly. They told me that to do this you have to trip and become so distracted that you forget all about the falling, the fact that the ground is coming up very quickly, and the fact that its going to hurt.

I decided to test this theory and went to the living room (which is a carpeted floor) and got my sister to throw pillows at me as I tripped. This was so I could become distracted and forget to fall. It didnt work and I became very distressed and finally gave up.

I still believed that I could fly if I was properly disctacted until my Dad, several months later, told me that they had made it up to make me do something stupid so that they could video tape it...

When I was in 6th grade I told a classmate that if reflections and shadows didn't exist that we would fall through the floor. And he believed me!

my daughter, when she was 2 or 3, used to believe that if you put the wrong amount of change into a pay phone, the pay phone would explode. God knows where she got this belief, but I found out about it one day when I stopped the car and got out to use a payphone and she burst into tears, begging me not to use the phone. I asked why and she explained that she feared I'd put in too much change, thereby causing the phone to explode and kill me.

I used to believe that calculators stopped time and we didn't notice in order to process math problems so fast.

When I was little, I had one of my babysitters tell me that there was a little guy in the headphones, singing to me. When I heard things with my headphones, it was really the little guy singing to me.

When i was about 8, watching Buck Rogers..i actully believed that in the year 1999 we were gonna be able to own our own spaceships and fly them anywhere in the universe..

i thought if i tied enough balloons to my bedpost the bed would fly away with me in it. unfortunately, i never had more than two balloons at a time, so i never got to test the theory.

When me and my friend were about 6 years old, we decided to go time-travelling. The only way we could work out how to do this was to sit at the top of my stairs in my baby brother's baby bath and wait for my mum to get home from shopping(the front door was right in front of the stairs) and then we would slide down the stairs and right out the front door so quickly we'd have to go back in time. Fortunately we didn't have the patience to sit all squashed up in the tiny little baby bath for longer than about 10 minutes so we gave up on our time-travelling plans and watched tv instead.

My parents are religious fanatics, so of course they did not properly explain the "big bang" to me. I am now an atheist, but back then (when I was 7 or so) I thought the "big bang" theory was idiotic. Why? Well, because I thought that the BIG BANG meant that something went *kaboom* and *poof* there was the earth as I knew it! My parents also told me that the theory of evolution meant that humans evolved from monkeys! But then, many uninformed people make that mistake...

I knew that the earth was spherical for as long as I can remember... but I do remember a time (until I was 4 or 5) that I believed that people on the other side had to hold on to these rungs when they moved from building to building to keep from falling out into space. I thought the houses were made so that the people walked on what we think of as the ceiling... with their feet facing the sky.

I really did used to believe that if you held a tin tray above a boiling kettle then the moisture that collected on the tray was actually melted tin. I used to spend hours boiling the buggars - and could never understand why the tray got any smaller!

Whats worse is that I even tried to explain this to my mum who just looked at me in bemusement, but never tried to tell me that I was wrong. Is it possible that she believed it too?

When I was younger I couldn't figure out why telephones needed electricity if a tin can 'telephone' wourked fine without it.

When I was 4 I believed that if you jumped in the aisle of a bus when it was moving the bus would keep going but you would stop which would make you fly out the back window. I believed it until I tried it.

I used to believe anthing that ran on electric or batteries had a self destruct button. Even a simple bread toaster!! I was deathly afraid of pressing the button on accident. To this day every body tells me "Don't press the button to blow it up."

when i was younger because i used to watch james bond and they said something about giving someone a cat scan and i thought that meant that it erased your memory i thought that until my step brother told me it was something differnt and i felt dumb!!!

Ever since I was little I've been afraid to talk on the phone because I thought that there are little ghosts in your phone that pretend to be your friend and then jump out of the phone and eat you. Sometimes I still think that.
