During 4th grade sex ed, our teacher told us that when a girl got her period, it was like a faucet being turned on inside of her. All of the girls were convinced from that point on that there was a giant faucet that spewed blood stuck in our tummies.

When I was about 9, I saw the multiracial "Cinderella" movie on TV (the one with Brandy and Whitney Houston). For about the next year or so, I believed that if a black woman and a white man had a baby, the baby would be Asian.

I didn't know what masturbation was until 8th grade. I was always a geeky kid and for some reason I thought it was related to chemistry...perhaps some method of mixing chemicals. I discovered how very wrong I was when a boy asked me if I masturbated, and I replied, "No, I haven't learned how to do that yet. Maybe Mr. Blevins will teach us."

Until the 4th grade I believed that a vagina was called a "virginia". No wonder my geography teacher was so confused when I asked why we had a state named after a body part.

By the time I was 5, I had figured out that in order to produce a baby the "daddy parts" somehow had to touch the "mommy parts". I was very confused as to how this occurred though, as I believed that the daddy and the mommy had to lie down on the floor butt to butt, and that this action would trigger the "baby making switch". Furthermore, I thought the "daddy parts" were pointy like a knife, but with a bee stinger at the end...that was how I rationalized the strange noises I sometimes heard from my parents' room at night.

I was told when I was 10 by a friend that if I didn't have sex before I was 13 y penis would fall off!

Now I know that ain't true, as I'm 18 and I've "done it" twice!

I used to believe that when I was in my mom's stomic, there was a flashlight, picture of my mom, and a blanket already in there.

When i was 5 years old, i had a 15 year old brother and he was always trying to teach me innappropriate things. Once he said something about sex, but i got the wrong idea and i thought sex was a food.

One day, my mom asked, "What do you want for dinner?"

I said, "I want sex!"

Babies came from pills. My mom told me that when a woman wanted to have a baby, she went to see her doctor and he gave her a pill to swallow. Inside her stomach, the pill would grow into a baby!

At about 10 years old, I understood the concept of 'gay' people. I'd heard the word 'homosexual', and knew what it meant. However, I'd never encountered the word 'heterosexual' and thought it was another word for 'lesbian'. In school once, we were told that some of us might be homosexual and others heterosexual. I raised my hand and said: 'So, we'll all like people of the same gender?'

A friend told me about this one:

She asked her Mum one day about babies were 'made'. Her mother replied that she and my friend's father had thought about it a lot and decided they both wanted to have a baby. The next day at school my friend told our whole group or six yeard old buddies that what had to be done to get a baby was think about it very hard at exactly the same time. The trick to is was that you couldn't discuss it. This synchronicity of mind could only be achieved by two people who loved eachother very much. I believed it, too.

When I was little and my mother gave me the 'Talk', she was kinda embarrassed and didn't explain it well. She swore me to secrecy about sex, so the next day I went and told all my friends that women got pregnant when the man pees into them.

I know someone who said that when he was younger, he thought that condoms were for getting the baby you wanted, in the sense that you flicked a switch to "boy" if you wanted a boy. And you flicked a switch to "girl" if you wanted a girl. And if you wanted twins you would flick a switch to "Twins"

Up until my freshman year of highschool I didn't know sex involved penetration. I just thought the people rubbed really hard back and forth. What was I thinking?

This is from when I was 5. I somehow understood that a brief time each month was tied to reproduction. I had read about sperm cells and egg cells, and I knew that babies came from the union of them. However, I figured that the sperm cell and egg cell met through oral contact--kissing. Kissing during a certain time of month produced babies. Also, I figured that the baby, who had been in the *stomach*, where it could get food from the mother, had to come out the same way it went in. So I basically believed that babies were vomited out. It's funny how almost-right can be so very off.

When I was a little girl the boy next door tole me that babies were mae when the boy peed in the girl's belly button. We tried it and I fully believed I was going to have a baby!

When my son was 7 he asked about the "big Q-TIP" in the Drs office. I had to explain that it was for women to get checked in their privates for cancer. He looked concerned for a second then loudly exclaimed "OW". I then realized that he thought women had only 2 holes like boys and so I told him we have 3. 1 to poop from, 1 to pee from, and 1 to have babies from. He digested that information for a minute then asked "do you think dad knows?" After almost wrecking the car I was driving from laughing so hard he looked at me and said " I am glad you told me cause I would hate to be having sex and slip and she looks at me and says 'WHAT are you doing?'" Had to pull over after that.
