When I was in primary, I heard the big kids talking about condoms. For a while I thought that they were some sort of life-jacket. I still don't understand how i made that connection...

After explaining to my three year old, Amber that I was pregnant with out second child, my daughter asked my husband where her unborn sibling came from. before I had the chance to explain, my husband told her that I ate a special seed and now a baby was growing inside. From then until I was about 8 months along, she seemed to have a grudge against me. Finally, Amber shouted at me: "How could you eat my sister?"

I used to think that babies came from the toilet. I thought that a guy and a girl pee in a toilet and then they flush it and then out pops a baby.

I used to think that penises were little hot dogs with two walnuts.

In about third grade, my mom was talking to one of ehr friends about the neighbors (Jennifer and Jennifer) and how they were homosexuals. I asked my mom why thier mom would have two kids and name them both Jennifer. I thought homosexuals was home-o-sexuals and I thought that Jen and Jen were sisters. I was so embarrased.

When I was 12, the popular kids started talking about porn. I didn't know what they meant, so for the longest time, I thought that they were talking about KoRn (the band). I didn't know much about the band either, so their conversations sounded very interesting! And my friends were just as clueless!

For a long time, I thought that the word "premie" meant a baby born without hair. (I think this was because the Premie Cabbage Patch doll my neighbor had was bald).

the spring before i got my period my class at school had been given the whole "birds and bees" discussion. well, they nice lady that talked to all us girls had explained that when we would get our first period we would see a "tiny red spot" in out panties. i believed her. that summer i was at camp and one day i found all this brown stuff in my panties...i thought that i had some horrible disease. i didn't tell a soul out of fear they'd send me away. turns out that "brown stuff" was my period. my mom explained that often a girl's first period would come out as brown and not red, and unless i had just barely started (like only a few minutes had passed) the "spot" wouldn't be small. to this day i feel that woman that talked to my class is a horrible liar.

I used to believe…

When I was a young child, I didn't understand why I got erections when I saw an attractive woman. I knew it had something to do with getting a woman pregnant but I didn't know how. At some point I finally came to the conclusion that an erection was like an antenna extending and that my penis was sending transmissions to get the woman pregnant. So for a while I worried that maybe I was the deadbeat father of some supermodel's baby.

when people got married they waltzed around, then would pray for a baby, i don't know how long it took the prayer to be answered, but the baby would come out of the mom's belly button. lol

I used to believe…

Until I reached 13, and sex-ed class explained how it really worked; I believed that somehow babies came out of their mommies belly button. I just couldn't figure out how it opened up.

— KellyGirlsex : giving birth

I used to believe that if you sat next to someone on the couch, you would get pregnant. I also thought that if you held hands while wearing a swimsuit, you would get pregnant. I thought that if you EVER stopped taking birth control and you had ever had sex, you would instantly get pregnant.

I used to believe…

Before I learned about the definition of a species (only animals of the same species can interbreed), I kept worrying that some bug would crawl up inside me and that I would give birth to a huge insect.

I never believed in a stork, but I never ever asked my parents (or anyone else either). I just used to think that when a man and woman marry that God just put the baby into the mom. It was magic. Or so I thought.

My grandmother told me HER grandmother said that if she sat on a chair a boy had just sat in, she would get pregnant!

I asked my mother once what I should I do if I didn't want children. She said that I should tell God if that was the case. After hearing this and seeing a cover of Time with a pregnant 11 or 12 year old on it I was convinced that God would just make me pregnant whenever He thought it was right and was paranoid that any movement in my stomach was a baby I wasn't ready enough to have. I lived my life in terror from that moment on until I learned the truth!
