As a child I believed that to make babies a man and a woman made a hot dog together. I was told that men had “wieners” and assumed that women would go to the grocery store to buy buns.

When I was about 8, everyone started talking abou this thing called "sex"! All over the playground in school, people were discussing it. Well, I thought that it was just a passing phase. I honestly thought that it just happened to be the fashionable thing to talk about, and would eventually fall out of fashion along with crimped hair and those trainers you could pump up!

Like many people, I thought that babies were born through the belly button.
So one time, when I was 5, I went swimming with my best friend. She had this sort of two piece tankini swimsuit, and I could clearly see her belly button. I was horrified to note that it was an outie.
I took her aside to break the news to her. I grimly informed her that she could never have children.
Her mother chided me for causing her to break into tears for no reason.

When I was little, I heard some kind of commercial that mentioned a "menstrual cycle". I got very excited, because I thought it was some kind of bicycle. Like, first you ride a tricycle, then training wheels, then a two wheeler, then a menstrual cycle. I soon learned the truth when I asked my dad for a "menstrual cycle" for my birthday at age 9.

In fifth grade, I walked by this guy on a bus, and we had to squeeze past eachother face-to-face and so our bodies touched. After that, it look like my stomach was getting bigger, so I thought I was pregnant.

This isnt about my belief but my friend's little sister. When I was in 9th grade I was staying over at my friends. Her 8 year old sister, being as nosy as she is decided to go though my over-night bag and she came across a pad and asked me what it was. Since my friend wasn't in the room to explain it to her and I tend to be shy around that kinda stuff, I simply told her it was a napkin. Of course she knew what a napkin looked like so she didn't believe me so I told her it was a special napkin and I took it away from her.

Later that week my friend came to school and asked me why I told her that. I didn't know why she found out or why she would even care but she said that the night before her first real boyfriend had come over for dinner to meet her family. Her little sister then mysteriously disappeared into the bathroom and brought out a napkin and gave it to her boyfriend saying that "They were special napkins and since he was the guest he should get one." Her mom was then forced to tell her about periods while her boyfriend was there. I found it pretty funny but she said she was so embarassed. We laugh about it now though.

Growing up, my family was always modest on the subject of sex and preganancy, so I naturally started to make my own assumptions. I remember being about 4 and thinkin that if girls married girls they would have a baby girl, and if guys married guys they would have a baby boy. (not to mention I had no idea that this was homosexuality) So I would always tell people that when I grew up, I wanted to have a baby girl so naturally, I would have to marry another woman.

My sixth grade teacher told me that kissing was oral sex, so I would tell everyone I have oral sex with my mom, dad, and brother every night!

I used to believe when a boy and a girl kissed something happened and the girl got pregnant!

I grew up with 3 younger brothers and never saw a male adult naked, so I thought every boy had a penis the size of a small finger. When I was 10, I went to visit my dad and walked in on him in the bathroom as he was getting out of the shower. I thought he must have hurt his penis because it was swollen. He and my mom thought it was pretty funny, but I was really concerned!

I didn't pay much attention in sex-ed class--until I was 16 I thought women peed out of the clitoris, and I also believed the vagina opened up into a big open space.

I thought once a woman got married, she would just randomly get pregnant every now and then, and she would have to either have the baby (painful) or swallow a pill to have an abortion (this was long before RU-486 was invented). I hated swallowing pills, so I was glad I wasn't a woman.

I attended Catholic School and I could not see any signs of breasts on the Nuns, their habits were white and flat so as a child I thought they cut their "boobs" off.
