I used to believe…

When I was about 8, I was told that when a woman and a man are ready to have children the man's penis enters the vagina and 'have sex'. What the word "sex" meant was not explained to me, so I made up a explanation in my head and thought that the end or 'head' of a man's penis falls off into the vagina, and grows into a baby.
That night, I tried removing the end of my penis, to no avail. I assumed I would never be able to concieve children, and was pretty upset about that for a few years, until sex education came along when I was about 14.

When I was 3 or 4 I learned about menstruation from an exhibit at the science museum. It went into plenty of detail about how the womb's lining drips out the vagina for a week, but it didn't mention that there are little wearable products specially made to catch the drip. So for the next few years I believed that a period was a once-in-a-lifetime event where a woman has to spend the entire week on the toilet.

I used to believe…

When I was ten, my left boob started getting really sore and I could feel a lump in there. For weeks I was so sure I had cancer. When I finally broke the news to my mother, she started cracking up and told me I was just "budding." Whew!

I used to think that if you wanted a baby, all you had to do was go to the hospital and buy one. I figured out the truth when I was 5 and my Aunt got pregnant.

I used to believe…

My friend's ittle sister once walked in on her while she was changing a tampon(their bathroom lock doesn't work) and my friend gave her "the talk." A bit later, they were outside and their neighbor-a boy-was acroos the street playing basketball. Her little sister looked at my friend and said "Do you think he has it too?" And she meant a period.

I used to believe…

When I was about 6 years old I heard on a news programme about someone being raped. Something was mentioned about forcing the victim to have sex and something about a knife. My little mind put all this together and thought raping someone ment stabbing them in the crotch.

I used to believe…

My mom is filipino, and instead of saying "penis" we said the tagalog word for it (I don't know how to spell it, so I'm leaving that part out), and I never knew what a penis was until I was in fourth grade, when a kid at school hurt his testicles and said, "Ow, my penis!", and I asked my mom, because I'd never heard the word before.

I used to believe…

When I was little, my father always used the word "gadget" to describe a penis. Imagine my surprise the first time I heard a grownup refer to some tool as being a "handy little gadget"!

I used to believe…

This is not mine itz my cousins.

When my cousin was about three and was just starting to realise that he had those bits he had his friend over (which was a girl) and they were both playing in the pool naked ( as three year olds do.)And he looked at his his friend very amazed and quickly ran to his mum saying.
'Mum, Mum Sophie cut off her wee-wee! She cut it off look! I could never do that!'
And of course we all stormed with laughter and he just stood there confused because he thought that we should all be really worried and we should rush her to the hospital.

I used to believe…

when i got my first period, my mom had told me that i was able to get pregnant now. and she didnt think she would have to tell me about the birds and bees again so she thought i understood that i had to have sex to have a baby.but i forgot all about it. so i layed upstairs in my bed as flat as a board so i wouldnt scrunch up my belly and make it bigger and get pregnant. until after about 4 hours my mom came up and sorted it all out with me haha

I used to believe…

When I asked my mom where I came from, she told me I came from her tummy. I refused to believe that. Instead, I imagined a giant hospital room filled with babies. God put them there, and that's where your parents got you.

I used to believe that how a baby fed whilst in its mummies tummy was that s/he would feel the food crashing on his/her head when mummy was eating and so the baby would then lean its head backwards and open its mouth as wide as possible to try and catch whatever food passing that s/he could.
I can still picture it now!!!!!!!

I was looking after a little boy aged 3 and his friend. They went off to play and I later found them in his parents bedroom with his mums tampons and sanitary towels all over the floor, and they were using the tampons as rockets and the san, towels as launch and landing pads!!!!!!!!! They were having great fun!!!!

I started my periods very early ( I was 10),I didn't even know about periods. It happend over night literally, and when i got up I cried for ages as I thought someone had been in my room and cut my legs. Sorry gross I know, I apologise. And it was the day before I was starting a new school too!!!!!!!!

I used to believe…

My mom always told my sister and me that mermaids had babies out of their mouths: they would blow a bubble with the baby inside and then the doctor would burst the bubble.
