I used to believe…

When we were young, my cousin and I heard her older sisters, most of whom were in their mid 20s, talking about maternity clothes. We were convinced that if you wore maternity clothes, you would get pregnant immediately! We were terrified!

When I was little, sex was explained to me as "a special cuddle in bed". My mom wouldn't tell me what made the cuddle special and so I refused to get in bed with my parents for the next few years for fear I might accidentally have the "special cuddle" and get pregnant.

my friend haley had her first period in the 5th grade but her mother never explained to her what a period was so on that day she ran out screaming," mom im dying!!!!!" and started to cry

When I was perhaps about 7 or 8 years old, I thought that when women got married they instantly became pregnant, and so I figured that all I ever had to do to keep from getting pregnant was to never get married.

When I was little I caught my parents... well let's just say, in the act, but before they could say anything I ran away.

I thought my dad was trying to kill my mom and was suspicious of him for years! D:

The first time I asked how I was born my mom told me that she and my dad made me "with God." Well I assumed they put me together, assembly-line style, in a factory in Heaven.
I should mention I was also a huge fan of Pinocchio.

When I was very young, I would think that the only way a baby could possibly be born, was by ripping it's way out of the belly button.

At some point I knew babies came out of mommies bellies, but I thought they came bursting directly out. I asked my mom, "what happens to the split after the baby is born?" And she said, "well, the muscles just kind of close back up I guess." And I thought, naw, how can that be, there's a tear down their bellies!

(I was born in mid sixties, before C sections were so popular.)

When I was 7 or 8 I thought sex was just two people standing real close to each other... Yea thanks to my older bro.

When I was younger, my parents used the word "bunky" to describe mine and my sisters "bottoms". At 5th grade, during the first sex ed class I had ever been to, the teacher called out and said, "Can anyone here tell me what the name of the female reproductive organs are?" Well, of course, I raised my hand and proceeded to tell the class that we all had bunkies.

I used to think that if you just laid in a bed, under the covers with a boy, and only if you were both naked, you would get pregnant.

I used to believe that if men and women moved during sex, they would not make a baby. In order to make a baby, they had to remain perfectly still after the man entered the woman. Why did I believe this? I have no idea.

Maybe it was because I went to a Catholic elementary school, but I thought that God would randomly chose whether or not to make a women pregnant. I planned on praying to God to not make me pregnant the second I got married.

I used to believe that when a guy kissed a girl and they traded spit, the girl would get pregnant.

One day when I was younger, I was angry at my father and complaining to my mom. She told me that I should be grateful to him, because without him, I wouldn't be there. They were trying to get pregnant at the time, and one day I saw him giving her hormone shots- for years after that, I was convinced that sex was when fathers gave shots to the mothers, and they led to pregnancy.

When I was really little my mom was putting this short thick blanket on my sisters bed. I asked her what for and she said because my sister had her period. I asked what a period was for and my mom said it's when a woman lets go of all the eggs she didn't use. I pictured my sister laying eggs like a chicken.
