I used to believe…
My mom never told me what a period was. Whenever I asked her what the pads she had were for, she told me they were to keep her pants from getting dirty. I wasn't sure what they got dirty with, but I didn't think much of it, just that my mom had a bladder problem (lol).
One day when I was about 9 or 10, I went on the internet, and I read about periods, and it was total news to me. Since I had no knowledge of periods before that, I thought that once you got your period, it would never stop and you'd keep bleeding until you died. So I was terrified, until our Personal Development class that year.

when I was little, about 4th grade, I thought that when a guy had an erection his penis turned colors...lmao
I have always wondered where the baby bump came from, so i asked my mum she said "We eat balloons and that's how we get it". I believed it until I was 10 I asked my mum again she said "What the heck?! we don't eat balloons!"

When I was little i believed that women cannot get pregnant if they had a belly piercing
I used to think that circumsicion is when they cut a girls penis off when she was born. I pictured it like "It's a girl! Now we have to cut her penis off, 'cuz that's just how we do things". I remember wondering why they had to do that, because it must have hurt to get it sliced off!

When I was about 4 or 5, a friend told me if you ate watermelon seeds you would become pregnant. I believed this for a long time.
I used to believe that you had flat babies in your tummy and when you'd get married, they'd automatically grow to a real baby. So when my dad put me in the car seat, I yelled: "LOOK OUT FOR MY FLAT BABIES!!"

When I was younger (6-7) I loved to read. I used to read books about human antomy. There was always a page abot babies. And the page would show a sperm meeting an egg. Si I thought if a mommy and daddy were touching tummys the sperm would travel through the tummys.

My dad told me when I was really little that roosters simply "walked over" an egg in order to fertilize it. I was recently in a conversation with my boss at work and argued that this was true for at least ten minutes - before realizing that my dad had simply told me that in order to avoid giving me the sex talk! My boss still laughs at me over that one.

A few years ago, my younger brother and I were playing with eachother when the conversation trurned to babies and he mentioned to me "Babies come out of your bumhole."
When I asked him if he was sure he said, "Well, yea. Where else would they come out."
He has also mentioned this several times at the dinner table and to his AND my friends.
I think he knows the truth now.
He should be ashamed.
I had a book on where babies come from as a little kid, and I remember reading about "the exchange of bodily fluids". I knew that some sort of liquid came out of the man's penis into the woman's vagina during sex. But I couldn't really figure out how some weird new sort of liquid might magically show up, so for years I believed that boys just peed into girls during sex!

up unitl the age of eleven i used to think that all pregnant women had to do was push their belly buttons back in to make the stork bring the baby. when i asked my mother this she laughed at me and said through happy tears "if only"

When I was 5 my sister and I were sent to the neighbor's house for lunch. A while later, I saw the family doctor walking down our front walk, carrying his black bag, of course. (This was in the mid 1940s.) A short time after that, we were called back to our house, and presented with our brand new baby brother. So I knew FOR SURE that babies were brought in the doctor's black bag. I'd seen it with my own eyes.
I used to think that the number of babies a woman would have was programmed into her -- there was no external factor like sex that would 'make' a baby, it would just happen randomly. ...at least until it occurred to me that dads were important somehow; then I thought it was kissing that made babies.
I used to think when babies were born that the parents would decide whether to make it a girl or a boy by chopping the umbilical cord to size. That is, if they wanted a girl they would cut the umbilical cord short (leaving only the clitoris -- which I thought was a tiny penis), and if they wanted a boy they would leave the umbilical cord as long as they wanted to make the penis.

i used to belive that having a baby means that they would go to the store and buy one and came back with a baby and i would say that i wanted 1 too.

When I was little, my mom told me that the place I pee out of was my "bottom".
As you might imagine, I got really confused later in life when I heard the word "bottom" used in other ways.
I remember once I was watching a movie, and a mom was talking to her son, and she said something like, "Tommy, if you don't do your homework I'm going to spank your bottom with a belt!"
Not only did I think that was completely AWFUL, I was like, "Boys can have bottoms, too?!"
So for a while I thought boys could have vaginas, and girl's could have penises, and it was only having boobs that determined your sex.

when i was young, i thought that a sperm just jumped out of a guy and jumped inside a woman and attached itself onto the egg and there came the baby

When I was younger, I had a bed wetting problem. So, during 5th grade when the teacher was talking about wet dreams, I shouted out "Oh, I used to pee the bed all the time."

When I was little my sister convinced me that you got pregnant by eating watermelon seeds. This she told me right after I ate watermelon. I freaked out and my mom reasured me that was not how you get pregnant.
