When I was around 8 years old I didn't understand how babies were born, however I did know that you had to be an adult to have one. I have a sister that was 13 at the time (grown up compared to an 8 year old), and while watching TV with my family a pregnancy test advertisment came on, and I proclaimed "T. needs one of those." My mother just said "I hope not," and no one ever mentioned it again. I hope I didn't cause any trouble.

When my wife was pregnant, my little niece told her to eat plenty of sugar and candy. When she asked her "why?", my niece said that she wanted us to have a girl because girls are made of sweets.
Until I was in college, I never understood exactly where a woman's urine came out. I thought the vagina was only for having sex. My working theory was that female pee came out of the same opening as her poo, but I always wondered where they came out together, or seperate times, or if it just varied.
Sadly, it took close examination of a college biology text for me to see the light. That's the sort of thing that happens when you only have brothers.

i didn't know that women had a different "hole" for urine to come out of. I just thought it was all the same...."hole"
I used to believe that when you had your period, urine came out (and not blood). then of course, i learned in sex-ed about the whole thing...it was kind of frightening.
When I was 8 or so, an older friend told me that masturbation meant "playing with yourself". I took her literally. This resulted in two things:
One day at day camp, I heard the word "masturbation" on television, and proudly proclaimed to the teacher in charge "I know what that word means!"
Shortly afterwards, my mother gave me a book about "the facts of life" and it said that masturbation usually resulted in an orgasm (which I somehow got into my head was a bad thing) and was terrified that when I played alone in my room I was going to give myself an orgasm.
I used to believe…
heh. i showed my friend a page in a book showing the joke "definition of a penis: a skinhead in a polo neck jumper". well, he didn't get it, and i wasn't about to explain it to him, I think we were in the back of a car going somewhere. several hours later he came back to me and complained because he had asked his dad what it meant, and that he had thought "penis" was spelt "peanus."
at about age 9, a friend told me that each month - at the exact same time each month - women lay eggs which are then cleverly caught by Tampoons (cloths with a dip in the middle for the laid egg). I can vividly recall my horror and remained convinced of my imminant egg-layage for another 3 years.

I used to believe that birth control was for deciding to have either a boy or girl babies.
A friend of mine thought that sanitary napkins were like adult diapers -- women would wear them if they didn't have time to stop working and use the bathroom.
I used to believe that women could get pregnant just by being in the vicinity of men a lot (this was why women got pregnant after marriage). This belief stemmed from overhearing my mother and her friend discussing the neighbor girl: 'If that Darlene doesn't stop hanging around boys, she's going to end up pregnant.' I had a brief period worrying about whether I should be in my father's company, but reasoned that perhaps you had to be a similar age to the man/boy in question. Luckily, I had no brothers.
I used to think that if you had twins that it would happen if you were pregnant (like in early pregnacy) then you would have sex again then u would have 2 sperms and 2 eggs so that would make twins.
I used to believe that tampons went up your butt because you have a hold there!
i used to think that your elbow was a vagina because one time when i was younger i scraped my "this" and pointed to my elbow and this boy told me it was called a vagina so that day i went home and told my mom i scraped my vagina.
i used to believe that babies came from their mothers ass' and they wouldn't drink breast milk they would drink ass milk.
I am disabled with cerebral palsy. When I was 9 -11 years old, I had physical therapy sessions 3 times a week. All of the sessions were coed with 8 - 10 kids in the same room. Most of them required the removal of most or all of our clothing. At this time I developed my own double standard on nudity. Seeing a girl in the nude (or being seen naked by a girl) anyplace other than the therapy room was an exciting experience. However, nudity in the room was just part of the session. That was 45 years ago but have vivid memories of a number of girls who I saw exercising – wearing nothing but a smile – and thinking, "I sure would love to see her dressed like that outside of therapy!"
I used to think that the "bellybutton" was used during sexual intercourse somehow.
When I about 7 I asked my Mum how babies were made. She told me that when mum and dad are in bed together a germ crawls out of dad and goes into mum and then makes a baby.
I discussed this with a friend the next day at school, and we both thought that my mum was on something and surely babies come when god decides that mum and dad are ready.

When I was little I used to believe that Tampon applicators were made so girls could stand up and wee like boys!!! I still think it's quite a good idea...
