When I was about six, I asked my Mom where babies come from. She gave me a reasonably detailed explanation, including how sex works. Except she never explained that the guy's ... um ... penis has to be ... well ... erect. So I used to believe that sex involved trying to get an essentially flaccid and floppy object into a small space. Kind of like threading a needle!
Till when I was in my 12th grade, I used to believe that babies come from the butt! And there was a big fight between my friend and me regarding this, until he finally took me to a classmate of mine (girl) and she explained me with blushes. I too had to accept with much embarrasment.

When I asked where babies came from (age 5) I was initially given a silly explanation (the cabbage patch one I think), but demanded a proper answer, so I was given a detailed and truthful scientific description and also shown a documentary on the whole process that my parents taped specially for me. I knew there had to be a Mummy and a Daddy who were married and that they had to love each other. I knew they had to cuddle and kiss and the man had to put his 'dinky' inside her 'muff' - this whole process seemed very boring to me. Then I thought the man peed in her and his pee had special tadpoles in that were much smaller than the tadpoles we had at school and were specially to make babies.
Luckily I knew when, where and how they came out, and that it was very painful and messy.
But when I questioned why there were stories in newspapers about teenage girls being pregnant (this is in the 1980's when the British teen-pregnancy problem began) I was told it was because 'there was something wrong with them' and I thought it must be a terrible disease!
However, after my sister was born when I was 7 I became very knowledgable on the whole matter and educated all my classmates. I'll never forget the day a friend looked really pleased with herself and said 'Think of what Mary and Joseph had to do to get Jesus!' and I pointed out to her that Mary was a virgin and Jesus was put there by God. She was laughed at a lot for that.
Alright, I've been reading these and thinking I had *THE* most distorted notion of sex. Here goes:
When I was a tot, my parents were loud. Not average loud or exceptionally loud, but jet plane loud. Every word, breath, moan, grunt and bed squeak would echo through the house. Sometimes they'd get so entheusiastic they'd forget to close thier door, making it that much louder. So I'd wake up to a terrible racket and lay there, listening.
For some reason (and I have NO idea why) I was convinced that Dad was laying next to Mom, both naked, and he was somehow forcing her to make a dark, watery fluid come out of her "privates". (I didn't know exactly what a woman had "down there" at the time.) It was clearly painful and exhausting for her to make the fluid, which explained her screams and breathing.
His groans and noises were caused by him restraining her and forcing the fluid out.
I thought he collected this fluid in a shallow container and ran his hands through it, in the dark bedroom, feeling for something. Why? What exactly? Who knows?
Anyway, I'm perfectly normal now. Really. No psychological scars. Maybe the occasional uncontrollable twitching, but nothing you'd not expect.
Anyway...top that!
I used to think my mother's tampons were air fresheners (they were the deodorant kind) and would hang them in my barbie's house. My poor mom found them once and was completely shocked! Poor woman, seeing her tampons (unused of course) hanging all over the place!

When I was a child used to believe that when a woman was breast feeding one breast was for liquids and the other was for solids. So a baby would eat and then they would take a drink from the other breast.
