I used to believe…

My brother and I had gone to visit my cousin one day when I was little. Well my cousin and brother had gotten to talking about sex. Being so little, I don't think they cared much that I was there, seeing as they knew I would have no idea what they were talking about anyway.

Well, imagine my surprise when my cousin tells my brother that he's "licked a pussy".

Why on EARTH someone would want to lick their cat was beyond me, but he seemed awfully proud of himself. Being competitive and not wanting to be upstaged by my cousin, my first response was "Oh yeah? Well I've licked mine, too!"

I knew that you have to have sex to make babies, and I had a vague idea of the job profile of prostitution. But I had no clue there was something like birth control. So I imagined all prositutes where pregnant all the time and had lots of children!

This isn't really my belief...

When I was 15, I had my first "serious" boyfriend [still serious 4 years later]. One day, we were talking on the phone, and I was complaining about my period [as always.] I think I used the word "heavy" to describe it about 8 times before he said "I don't see what the big deal is, it's just a little dot." And I said, "what?" To which he responded on the sanitary pad commercials, they only poured a little dot of water on the pad to show how well it worked, and he had therefore assumed that that was what a period was like for a girl.

I asked him if he thought it was blue, too.

— In love with a misinformed mansex : periods

I remember being in 5th grade and watching my first "informative" video about puberty. They demonstrated via cartoons what happened when a girl got her period and also what happened when a boy orgasmed [for some reason...I'm guessing they went on to talk about how babies were made but I had probably shut down with embarrassment by then].

Anyway, I had just gotten my period and hated it, so when the narrator was talking about how stuff "ejaculated" from the boys penis, I clearly remember thinking "HA! At least they have to go through something, too!"... as in something unenjoyable and that they didn't enjoy.

They belief continued till I was in 8th grade and foolishly clicked a porn link that was in my inbox. That's when I discovered that they enjoyed it A LOT and "jerking off" a guy was not the cruel practice I had imagined.

Oh, how very young and mistaken I was.

— Idiot girl in the back row of Sex Ed.sex : rude bits

I found out about the mechanics of sex but at first I didn't know that it involved pleasure, so I thought when you wanted to have a baby you just put the penis in the vagina and stuff (I didn't know about semen) just automatically came out and the couple would just hope they got pregnant!

I used to believe…

For a long time when I was little I thought I was pregnant because whever I laid on my stomach I could feel something going "bump bump bump" inside my stomach. I thought maybe I had been raped as a baby and it impregnated me years later. Later on I realized it was just my heartbeat.

The first time I asked my mother what a period was she said it was when a girl pees blood. Because I hadn't yet started having periods I was worried that my pee was pee instead of blood!

I used to think that "oral sex" ment you would talk sexy to your partner before you had sex.

I used to think that when a women gave birth that you would sit up on a tabele, life up your shirt, and the doctors would cut a circle in your stomach and then the baby would climb out of her stomach, then the doctor would simply just place the peice of the moms belly back on and it would be back to normal.

I used to believe…

When i was little, i used to look at my brother naked and then look at my bits and wonder when i was going to grow my penis. I honestly thought i had to grow mine and that my brother just got his earlier than me.

I used to believe that the word Orgasm meant what "organism" really meant...Science class in 5th grade was quite an embarrasment for me.

I used to believe…

When I was about 6 I asked my mom what 69 meant, she told me it was another word for the black and white yin yang symbol. I thought 69 was a yin yang for years, I always wondered why people talked about it like it was a bad thing.

I used to believe…

When I was about 12 my friend at church suddenly remembered what everyone at her elementary school had thought sex was. In the first grade some little boy had said that sex was when a guy and a girl peed inside one another. I nearly wet myself laughing at the thought because by then I knew what sex really was, but part of me actually believed her until she told me it was wrong, despite my knowledge.

I used to believe women got pregnant randomly, sort of like catching a flu, only you catch pregnancy.

I remember playing with a friend when i was little and we were talking about getting married and having babies. The whole idea of dating and getting married made me cringe with embarrassment, so I proudly declared I would simply wait to get pregnant "on my own" instead of having a husband.

I used to believe that sex was when a man would get on top of a woman and they would hold on to eachother and they would roll around the bed. I knew nothing about penatration, but I did know a little about sperm and eggs. Well I thought that when the man came lots of inch longer spermies would be released and the spermies would wiggle around the bed fighting eachother off and trying to find the woman's vagina.

i used to think that if anything too hard touched my butt i would get pregnant to i tried not to sit too flat down on chairs

I used to think that being a "virgin" meant you weren't married or in a romantic relationship. This was because they used the term "Virgin Queen" when we learned why virginia got its name when jamestown was settled.
This was back in like 3rd or 4th grade, and I thought that for a while until I heard the term "virgin" used in other ways, and then I wasn't sure, so I looked it up, and sure enough, I was lied to originally.

I used to believe…

Before I knew how sex worked (I was in 4th grade, and in my area sex ed starts in 5th grade), I thought that you could only have babies when you're married. My friend (who's parents told him about sex) also said that, and I thought it was weird! How can whatever makes babies know if you are married? Then I thought of something having to do with the wedding ring putting pressure on your finger. My friend used terms like "egg" and "sperm" and I had no idea what they meant!

It wasn't until I heard them used to define sex when I understood!
