when i was really little, like 5, my mom got a vibrator from my aunt as a joke and i found it and thought it was one of those back massager things and so i was massaging myself with it for a minute until she came into the bathroom and took it away. lol, maybe ill remind her of this when im older.

I used to believe that a baby shower meant that the pregn ant woman would have a special magic shower that dumped presents instead of water! =)
I understood what a condom was....and I knew it was used to prevent STDs, but I thought there must be a pin hole at the tip so baby making was still possible

Like many men I started getting erections while I was still young. As a child, this scared and confused me and, for some reason, I used to believe that if you poured water on it, it would shrink back down. I don't know how I came up with this.

i used to believe that the only way you could get pregnant was to shower with someone of the opposite sex.

When my family went to Queensland for a holiday, we went into this museum and there were these wierd statues there. I think I touched one of them.
We went into another room, and there was a big screen playing movies about various things in the museum. It mentioned something about those statues I'd seen, and it was showing how all these people who touched the statues got pregnant afterwards.
I then became worried that I'd get pregnant.
I was 11 years old at the time.

As a small child, the only knowledge I had about sex was that it was something done while naked and it was usually done in the bedroom. I figured that the bedroom was a suitable place solely for its privacy, because for years I thought sex was something you did standing up! Sadly, I did not learn the difference until I saw the movie "Spanglish".

when i was 7 to 8 i believed dat a child is born when a mother develops love for husband in his heart and god gifts the mother a child which is sent to the hospital through an Angel

until just last year i thought sodomy was somehow related to the bible and that it wasn't anything to do with what it really is. I made the mistake of asking my very religious grandmother what it meant. that was a very awkward conversation...

once when we had a family dinner at a bistro, me, being only 9 & my neice who was 7 went to the toilets and there was a condom machine. and neither of us knew what these condom things were, but we saw they were flavoured! so we each put it 50p and got a condom each. Being very ignorant indeed, i filled mine with soap (which i thought was strawberry flavored) and we tried to eat them. but ofcours they were disgusting so we just left them by the sink. lol

When me & my sibilings were younger (me 8, sis 6, bro 4) My parents came & got us from our Aunt's house. Little did they know I had got a "Balloon" out of her drawer. We were on the way home when my mother turned around to stop the bickering over who was gonna blow the balloon up next. When she turned around all she could do was laugh. That's when I learned all about condoms & their uses.

When I was really little I used to believe tampons were for keeping a woman's pubes from getting inside her. Some genius on the subject of periods I was. :P
I used to think that when somebody called you a virgin it meant that you were a lezbien

This isn't really a belief, or at least I only believed it for an hour or so, but I'm adding it anyway because mothers may appreciate it. In 8th grade sex ed, the teacher had one of those cross-section pictures, as if you sliced someone right down the middle, and this one was of a pregnant woman at full term. In this cross-section picture, the urethra and rectum appeared to be squashed completely flat, and the bladder was significantly flattened too. So at the end of class I went up to the teacher and asked, "everything isn't really flattened like that, is it? it just looks that way from the way the picture is made?" My teacher -- who had a couple of kids -- laughed and explained that no, everything really is squished like that and that she had to go to the bathroom like every half hour near the end of her pregnancy (an experience I know is shared by many moms). This did not exactly make me want to have kids.
I had a brief phase of thinking that sharing a water glass with a man would get you pregnant. (I think I knew it could only be grownup men, so it was ok to share with my brothers.)
In 5th grade sex ed, they explained everything in a fair amount of detail -- the menstrual cycle, anatomy (I think of both girls and boys), how the egg and sperm get together and fertilization happens. The one thing they left out was precisely how the egg and sperm could arrive in the same place. (We got that in 8th grade sex ed, but by then I already knew.)
5th grade sex ed was not co-ed. I assume the boys got less information about menstruation, but nobody asked. The boys did report that they watched a film of some sort in which the egg wore an evening gown and the sperm wore a tuxedo and they had a night on the town or something. I wonder how many boys were confused by that?
I knew babies grew inside the mother, but not how they were born. I thought the mother had a door on her back that opened up, like the battery compartment some of my talking dolls had. The baby would just fall out.
When I have told this as an adult, every mother who has heard it has said something like, "if only."

When my girlfriend and I were in 6th grade, we were on the bus and another girl was being teased for having chapped lips. The boys were saying that she had been giving too many bj's. I asked what a bj was and my girlfriend said she thought it was when you kissed somebody's behind.
I could not figure out why anyone would want to do that.
I grew up in a family with 11 kids and i was the oldest and also the only girl so when i was 5 and already had 3 other brothers with 1 more on the way i asked my mom why do i have so many brothers she said cause i was lucky so the next day i told my friend haha I'm lucker then you and we both belived that for about 5 more years
I used to believe that in order for a woman to have a baby, she had to take one that was already born and swallow it. Then she would go to a doctor a few days later and he would cut it out of her stomach. I never understood how a woman could swallow something so big.

After watching a sex-ed film in elementary school, I thought the way to get a girl pregnant was to pee in her.
