top belief!
To explain sex to me, my parents just showed my a video. It showed the sperm travelling to the egg and such, but it never said how the sperm GOT there. It never explained sex. This led me to believe that after a woman started her period, she would just constantly get pregnant unless she kept taking the pill. Her body would just keep making babies one after another.
After watching the video, this belief firmly planted in my mind, I told my mom, "When I get older I'm definitely going to be on the pill. Otherwise I'll be getting pregnant all the time." Imagine what my poor mom must have thought!
When I was 8, I asked my mom how did a baby get inside her stomach, she told me daddy gave her some sunflower seeds and it grew into a baby, ever since then, until I was 12, I was so afraid of sunflower seeds, I didn't want a baby in my stomach!
When I was younger, my friend told me that you could get pregnant by sitting on a guy's lap. It wasn't until 6th grade that I found out the truth.
I used to belieive that you can get pregnant by just thinking about it.
I used to believe that you could get pregnant from being in the same room with a guy. So, everyday after school, I'd come home and check my tummy in the mirror and was convinced it was getting bigger and bigger
When i was really young I thought that to have a baby, the male would urine into the female. This was because I only knew certain details of sex, and the part about semen was never mentioned.
Yep, i was stupid!
Until I was about 9 or so, I thought that to get pregnant, a man and woman had to live in the same house and be married. To account for teenage pregnancy, I thought that sometimes there was a mistake in the "process" or whatever. I also decided that I was never going to have kids of my own, until sex became less of a big deal in like 5th or 6th grade.
I was about 8 when my oldest sister first became pregnant i thought that if i ate after here i would then become pregnant as well
When I was little and asked my mother the key question most children eventualy do, "mommy, where do babies come from?" she had told me that when mommies want a baby they press there belly button and the baby just appears... So, after she told me that, i think i must have pressed my belly button for weeks afterwords.
When I was nine, my older, much wiser best friend Lisa told me a lot of Sex Facts; such as a man has to pee inside you to make a baby. Since my mom never told me anything about sex, I believed that until I learned differently in school, a couple of years later.
I used to think that having sex once could lead to pregnancies for the rest of your life. I figured that that's why married couples had honeymoons, so they could start making babies right away.
I believed up until about 10th grade that if you had sex while you were pregnant, you would have another baby! I always wondered how there could be enough room in the uterus!
I used to think once you got pregnant, you couldn't have sex at all during the 9 months.
When I first learned about sperm being single cells I still did not understand what sex was, I suppose I wasn't paying attention in class. At any rate I understood that getting pregnant had to do with sperm getting to the egg. I thought sex was just a man and woman being in bed naked together but I thought that would be so embarrassing so I tried to come up with ways to circumvent the embarrassment. I decided a man could take a bath or shower and then the woman would come and use the bath/shower immediately afterwards if they wanted to have a baby.
I remember when I was young I saw my mom eating a birth control pill, but I didn't know what is it for at that time. So I asked her and she said if she didn't take it, then I would suddenly have a little brother or sister. I thought when woman reach the age where they can have babies, the babies will automatically grow inside their stomachs and can only be stopped if you eat the pills. And if you forgot, then the baby will develop and you'll be pregnant.
Well, I was half right, but I never thought man had anything to do with that...
When I was in the sixth grade my best friend's sister, who was a year younger than us, thought she would get pregnant if she sat on a toilet seat after a man had used the bathroom.
