I used to believe that every time a couple had sex, the woman got pregnant. One day my mom was talking to her friend about another woman who was pregnant. I always used to wonder why women said they were "trying" to get pregnent. I thought that babies just appeared in the women's stomach (I didn't understand the concept of a womb either)if she hoped hard enough, and the women only knew when their bellies began getting big. I believed this even after I learned about sex!

When was younger, i belived that getting pregnant was not a choice, that one day you just woke up in the middle of the night with a big belly and yelled,"Oh no, my water broke!" and then your husband would rush you to the hospital. And if you were lucky enough to know you were pregnant in advance you could take a girl pill or a boy pill to determine the gender. And when I was very very young and had jsut found out about babies, my mom had told me that they came oput of your tummy.I remeber having this vision of someones big belly hatching open like a chicken egg and a feathery baby climbling out...i was a weird one.

My parents never told me that people had sex to have a baby, they just said it was when a man and a woman decided together that it was the right time.

So until I was 11 or so, I thought that a woman would only get pregnent when she decided in her mind that it was time. Sometimes I'd freak myself out by "thinking" I wanted a baby, and would then knock on wood 3 times.
