When I was little, I asked about how a woman got pregnant. My mom explained that a man planted a seed in a woman and it grew like in a garden. For years I thought there was dirt and plants in my moms belly and my dad was planting seeds there and this scared me!

I always understood that a man and woman had to 'sleep togather' for the woman to become pregnant... but until I was 12 and learned the whole truth, I thought that just meant they had to sleep in the same bed, nothing else involved. I was so scared when I had to share my dad's bed at his parent's house since their rope bed wasn't made up yet. I was worried I'd get pregnant!

My one friend used to think that people only had sex when they wanted to have babies. She was like "haha, your parents did it twice!" because I have a brother. Oi, if only.

I used to believe that after a certain age women just got pregnant at random, like one day they would just wake up pregnant with no say in the matter whatsoever.

I thought getting pregnant was completely random, and that the couple had no control in it whatsoever. So whenever I'd hear something about a couple trying to get pregnant, I'd think that they were stupid because it couldn't be done, and that I was a lot smarter than they were for realizing it.

When I was in elementary school, I heard my mom comment on some very skinny aerobics instructor on TV, "I bet she's never had kids." I was baffled because it had never occured to me that you could NOT have kids! I believed that pregnancy was automatic, so that when a woman reached a sufficient age, a baby just started growing inside her all by itself. Then she'd have to find someone who would agree to be the baby's father and help her take care of it, if she didn't already have a husband or boyfriend handy. Yeah, I was a pretty mixed up kid, but it made perfect sense to me!

When I was a little girl the boy next door tole me that babies were mae when the boy peed in the girl's belly button. We tried it and I fully believed I was going to have a baby!

I took "when a man and a woman love each other very much..." too literally -- because that was all I got to hear! I thought that simply by being married (and, therefore, in love), one was risking getting pregnant at any time, regardless of any actual interaction with the couple. It all just happened by chance.

Before knowing about sex, I thought that God impregnated the mother after marriage and that you had to be married to have a kid. Later after finding out about sex I thought that the parents had sex once when they got married and got pregnant at random during the marriage. Since then I have become an Atheist too.

My grandmother told me that when she was younger she used to believe that if someone touched her boob she would get pregnant.

I am still a kid who is in middle school but when I was a bit younger I used to think that when the first time you kissed a boy on the lips you would become pregnant.

I used to believe babies could either be girls, boys, or alligators.

When I was four, I found out that only women could give birth to babies, but I didn't know how. I wondered if it was my destiny to end up pregnant, and would I know when it happened? One night at dinner, I voiced my fear to mom & dad. I think they had rehearsed their answer about this iffy question before, and they told me "A man and a woman both have to decide they are having a baby." and left anything to do with human anatomy out of it. I'm sure they thought they were being really safe and politically correct, but for a few years I live in fear that if I thought (or worried) about having a baby hard enough, the thought would be strong enough to make myself pregnant. It was mind-torture.

I thought that women would sometimes get pregnant spontaneously. This was because our babysitter was a single mother, and I couldn't quite work out how she had a baby if there wasn't a husband living in the house at all times. So I figured that once in awhile, though not often, women reproduced by themselves.

When I was about 5 I told my mother I knew how babies were made. Curious of what I had to say she asked me how. I told her that a man and woman take off their clothes and kiss each others "privates" Needless to say we had the sex talk. Where in the world did I get that from???

I used to think that if a boy touched a girl, she would get pregnant. When I was 7, a boy had brushed up against me, and I was so worried that I was pregnant that I started crying to my older cousin, who then told me that wasn't how babies were made.
